Give me some estimates on age and score. We are in SC Okla, don’t feed protein and our mature bucks average around 130-160# fd. These are velvet and prerut pics.

He looks 5 to me based on the first two pictures -
last pic he looks out of velvet - without a head on picture it is hard to score but he certainly looks like a stud deer especially considering no protein feeding - I say take him!!

Lots of activity in this section(good thing)-this thread keeps getting buried. I’ll add a couple more pics in hopes it’ll keep thread alive.

I can't put that too much age on him. Five from these photos. Looks like he does have loose skin under the jowl but, his coat is almost perfect without blemish and there is waistline like a young man. Guess he cold be on the downhill - just don't see it wih the appearance of that "coat".
Score - who knows with the lopsided rack one thing for sure id the fourth mass masurement on his left beam sure will help. Add in nice eye guards and what appears to be better than average beam length and thta boy is going to total a rather impressive number of inches.

I've got nothing on age for you, could be 3.5-6.5, I just can't see this one. Score, I'd say ~150ish?

Flipping the question, what's your take free? I'm guessing you have more history on this fella than just these few photos.

I won’t guess but I’ll say it’s a beautiful deer that 99% of hunters would be thrilled to death to have an opportunity at. I like freaky deer

Deer typically do not get freaky looking antlers when they are 3.5 to 4.5 unless they are in HF with a lot of introduced genetics.
Normal LF whitetails will get freaky when they are older in my experience. I have seen a drop on a young buck once, but the double set of tines this guy exhibits is not a sign of youth in my experience with LF deer.
Just throwing this nugget out there….the area FR hunts does have some good genetics and some freaky genetics

But I don’t want to say cause I don’t want to taint yalls feedback. I’ll eventually chime in but I was really hoping for more estimates and some of the regulars that get into this stuff havent chimed in yet. Thanks for the feedback so far, guys.

I'll fall for it...a wild guess for horns....a lot of beam mass..Beam length around 24 inches...total inches around 160....age...beam thick enough for old age and hind quarters looks like a deer around eight years old, however-not being sway back for old age my age guess stands at old age due to horn mass at the base. The eyes do squinch some.. but some chin skin. In saying all this he could be younger being fed high protein but I would expect more meat on the bone. Some pot belly but not like I would expect of old age. So...this could be an old buck with genes that explain the horns but I am actually lost and don't know ......LOL

Very unique buck. Right side is typical lady is narly . Trying to get a perspective of him from the second deer in first picture. His head shows younger but his rear end shows much older . So hard to tell from pictures . Looks to be about 20 in wide. Mass is good . Guessing 6.5 years but in great shape for it . 165 score . All a guess from pics . Put him down and give us the measurements.

Looks young to me. Has a skinny neck, not much brisket, no broad nose and face is fairly short with not much gut. I say he is 3.5 and between 175-180. I think he has good genetics and has been hitting the protein. Hard one to pass up, but most end up being 175 before they are 190.

Dang that last picture Free….makes him look like a baby.
The velvet pics also make him look like a stud …not that he isnt, but the velvet always adds inches that wont be there.
Love that left side. Cool cool buck. He isn’t getting any older once the trigger is pulled and i think most of us would struggle not to pull it on him.

Just throwing this nugget out there….the area FR hunts does have some good genetics and some freaky genetics Look at his rear feet closer, then his knee pads and width of chest, few pics give a good look at jaw line also I think he is Post prime. And back foot has one hoof longer than other. Also scare on his shoulder… all could attribute to antler formation. I bet he has a limp.

When they look young but look like they should be older I usually start thinking post mature pretty hard. He sits down on his hooves pretty good, callous knees looks like an empty spot on the sides of his chest covered with loose skin where muscle used to be. The first few pics really make you scratch your head the later ones really tell more to me. Anything I thought about score would be a WAG, but more than enough to make me happy! Love his look.

The quick look makes you think young for sure. But the deeper look.
Agree with redchevy, when the headgear doesnt match the body, its time to look past the quick and go deeper into other characteristics of age. This deer is a great example of that. BOBO got that after seeing some of the responses. Easy to overlook some of those things on the initial take.
Having said that, i have had two bucks taken off my place this year, both looked younger than they were. I think this is partly due to the late summer drought this area (i hunt close enough to Free to be able to say that) experienced which led to good antler growth but bodies suffered from lack of good food late.

That deer is old and will not be better next year. He needs knee pads. Bet he has lots of wrinkle wear now excess hide used to coverup muscle.
