I guess most are assuming this is HF. I don’t think he said. That would make a huge difference in the answers. As I mentioned in my post, if not HF, this is a waste of time and money. Having said that, I am not 100% certain if you can even bring in bought deer into a low fence place, per state regs. I may be wrong on that.... I know in OK, if you want to buy deer to bring in, you HAVE to be HF.

There's good genetics in a lot of texas. I presume if considering stocking deer that you've exhausted other remedies? How intensely is the herd managed now? I too would think that if not HF then stocking deer would be a waste and maybe not legal. If HF though you already have a reasonable amount of control Money that would be spent on breeder deer could be spent feeding the existing herd and as long as here was also some sufficiently heavy population control there could be some significant results.
we hunted hill country a long time on about an 800ac LF place that was very much overshot for bucks and very much undershot for does. as we made up 4 guns on the lease we just made a personal decision that we'd start to shoot more does and limit our buck harvest to one or maybe not any if we didn't see a bigger one. it took a few years but we got the doe population in check such that the deer weren't so densly populated and weren't so hungry all the time and the bucks that came off the place in the couple years following were dramtically some of the best ever. from bucks that struggle to score 100 to a couple that might push 140. and that was LF. as HF with better feed, and better control over influx of deer from surroundings, and not dealing with other lease hunters...course i don't know how big of deer you're growing now already.

whatever you do dont deal with Keith Warren. Where is your place? is it HF or LF? There are some options none are fast but they will improve your heard. It is more like a 5 year commitment that you have to make. You dont have to kill off everything and you dont need to drop a ton on breeder bucks. If you would like PM me and I will explain what I have done on 2 seperate places. I live in the hill country on a LF ranch and you would be shocked to see the deer that I have here.
