That’s a hefty stringer of fish. You would drive folks on TFF crazy with that pic.

My grandmother made a Cubion that was out of this world. She would only use black bass, I did what I could to keep her well stocked. I would trade a couple of my kids for a bowl of that again.

Don't think I ever ate it with bass. But have had tons of it with Catfish and or Crappie. I have had it with a few different kinds of saltwater fish, and I found the freshwater fish make for the better stew. I will make it once or twice a year with Crappie or Stripper from fishing trips. though it was better when my grandmother or dad made it. My grandmother made a Cubion that was out of this world. She would only use black bass, I did what I could to keep her well stocked. I would trade a couple of my kids for a bowl of that again.

Keeping legal bass to eat is not a big deal anymore. Bigger ones don’t taste good and are better to throw back anyway.
That is a nice eating size and great way to cook them. On the half shell is also tasty.

Great way to spend time with your boy and I’d eat the hell out of that fish. Your boy is getting big. He is starting to look like a grown man. Well done!

This tank hadn’t been fished much. The bass were all healthy but every one of them weighed around 2 1/4 lbs. We caught one around 4. Dax is like me and doesn’t care much for sitting in a deer blind. We decided to fish hard and kill something if we had an opportunity. Was a great weekend with a couple of full 65 quart coolers full of bass.

I’ve eaten some giants and the meat is exactly the same. It’s all just as white and pretty no matter what size the bass is. Growing up my grandfather and I filleted plenty of 6-8 pound bass and they were great. I throw back the big ones these days but gill hooked a 9.5 a few years ago at Amistad on a Spook. Her meat was just as pretty as a 2 pounder and tasted the same.

Yuppie bass fisherman started the myth that large bass aren't good eating. The TFF is full of them.

Now that you mention it, I feel like she would use red fish if she had to.
