I’m thinking more like they come snorting around because of the kill and notice some oddball skink that’s endangered and now you can’t plow your field anymore. It’s happened before and it will happen again.

Not just kills, people don’t report sightings for the same reason as well in my opinion. No one wants P&W snooping around because lions are present.

Lmao. Lots of people make those claims. It is odd very very few can ever back them up

And exactly how would you like them to back the claims up? I for one do not wear a Go-Pro 24/7365, don't even have one. I've seen the pics from the gamecam(see below) and I used to hunt Mazy's land. She died back in the late 80's and her house isn't even there now. Triton$, you are just a troll and probably squat to piss, so, like I said, pound sand.

Just like an episode from TPWD when they were in south Texas doing an Oscelot story. They showed the 2 places where they were tracking them. Weren't extremely big places but all the surrounding land, thousands of acres, were just like them. You know dang well there are Oscelots on those places too, but, because dang near all Texas land is private, they have no idea how many there are. They even went into detail as to why they aren't allowed to do any studies, because landowners were afraid they would find something endangered and stop or even kill their cattle operations. TPWD gets it, they understand that because it has happened in the past.
Sorry, it was an episode of Nature on PBS.
HEB and TPWD have also done stories on them too, just not as long and detailed as the Nature one.

Happened to my parents back the early 80's. Around 1972 they had bought about 2500 acres between RR 620 and Lake Austin as investment property to be developed later. Couldn't do anything with it until a 3 year study was completed on the 'Golden Cheeked Warbler'.

They were eventually able to sell the land for limited development, but other land holders near the same area were severely restricted.

Back in the 90's, a co worker who use to be in real estate down in Austin in the early 80's went all in trying to develop some land they bought just west of the city. Thought they had done all of their due diligence for development.
They were about to start pushing dirt when a certain type of minnow was discovered in the creek that ran through the property that was on the endangered species list, everything came to a grinding halt.
It forced his family into bankruptcy.

Maybe I missed it, is the TPWD going to try and catch the Frisco cat and then relocate it?

Lmao, sure thing buttercup. It's funny how they are well documented in places they actually exist. Even in places where they don't exist. They show up on security cameras just like this one

It means there are no resident lions. Just a rare dispersing male passing through

I think this is only the 5th confirmed Mt lion in what I would consider DFW/ North Texas since TP&W started keeping track of them back in the mid 90's

So, what’s the big argument here? They do exist, maybe they’re just moving through, whatever. I believe we can agree their neat creatures and everyone here would absolutely love to actually love to see one, whether in a back yard in Frisco, or in a pasture on your lease.

Triton how long does it take a passing mountain lion to become a resident lion in your opinion.

Humm, 2 sightings and they think it may be the same cat. When does it become a resident ?
Seems to have chosen it's home range.

This is why the "knowledge" about lion kills or legitimate sightings based on data compiled by TP&W is worthless.

Buddy, I am pretty sure I saw this same lion last October around this time, If you look at map and find panther creek in Frisco where it starts on Brinkman ranch at Preston/El Dorado area that is his main habitat, got about 5500 acres to roam and full of deer, rabbits, etc he runs that creek bottom to where he was recently spotted, Panther creek dumps in to Lewisville lake in The Colony.

Don't belive the BS City of Frisco is telling you that he is moving thru, they don't want to upset people living in the area.

Nope, don't want to see them. They eat a ton of deer and are an apex predator. We'd be happy to not have a resident population on the ranch.
I've seen several in the wild, taken 2 and hope to take more this year. We can get an addition mt lion tag in our area and we do every year.
If you love your deer, shoot a mt lion.
They kill for the thrill not just to eat, they are cats.
I sat in on a mt lion necropsy , it sat at a fence crossing and killed 32 sheep that happened by, didn't eat 1.

Here's an interesting read : https://tpwd.texas.gov/publications/pwdpubs/media/pwd_bk_w7000_0274.pdf

The introduction has some good facts if you don't want to read it all.

Genuinely curious, Triton. You’ve already stated you’ve never seen a mountain lion. Where did you get your knowledge? Have you been part of a tagging project? Are you a wildlife biologist? Formal training? Or just an internet education?

I just took a interest in them years ago. Lots of reading. Lots of conversations with biologists. Lots of looking at all the evidence and facts
