About 20 years ago I was going to Lake Texoma around sunrise to fish, I had a mountian lion cross the road heading toward the damn, where the lowspot is, where the spillway water runs off and makes a creek.

I have seen 2 Mountian Lions to date.

I do live on Panther Creek so we have a nice corridor for them, Panther creek dumps into Lake Lewisville in Little Elm, so it could be the same one.

They are developing about 500 acres of Brinkman ranch maybe he was looking for new area to hunt.

The TP&W biologist that was responsible for site investigations in North Texas did over a hundred site investigations while with TP&W. Not a single one turned out to be a lion. There is a reason there is only a handful of confirmed sightings. They aren't here

That was on my buddys property back in 2020. They had seen the tracks the day before and he popped out right at dark - pictures don't do it justice, he was a huge Tom.

Your population is growing so fast, developments are reaching further into rural areas . You have a nice population of big cats, it's not surprising they show up occasionally in populated areas.

Saying no known population is just not correct for North Texas.
They used to say Oklahoma had none either then my husband found a dead one on 287 in their panhandle. He stopped and looked it over and I reported it to their wildlife dept, several years ago.

My BIL's dad came face to face with one in Grant County Next to his barn. They exist, though likely few in numbers.

I have never said it's impossible. They are dispersing males wandering through. They are not resident lions. Every confirmed sightings in north Texas has been a lone male. The Rowlett/Celeste cat. The chalk mountain cat killed by a hunter. The Mineral Wells cat hit by a vehicle. All dispersing males

Mostly transient males that periodically show up. When there is a resident population their kills give away their presence.

I’ve seen one, about 20 years ago, at my place South of Bowie. I called the local wildlife guy and he wasn’t surprised. He thanked me for the call and said there had been several reported sightings in the hills of the local lake but mine was the first call he had gotten 10 miles from the lake. He came and looked at the tracks, took a couple of pics and confirmed that they were not bobcats.

In the 1960’s I spent 4 years at Luke AFB outside of Phoenix and spent a lot of time in the surrounding mountains. I saw one female with kittens which made my day. But, found a lot of tracks.

If you get on here and make the statement "They aren't here" in N Texas, you better be able to back you claim or you will get called out for it.

I don't mind being called out. It's not just my claim. It's also TP&W claim and the lack of confirmed sightings and evidence backs it up. I actually expected a hunting group to have more wildlife knowledge than what I am seeing on here

I know a guy I trust that saw one at Lake Ray Roberts last year. I saw one in Grayson county 30 years ago.
