In all the years I've hunted, I've never taken a buck opening morning!! We've been watching and seeing this big 15/16 point all bow season on camera. But he was eluding us all bow season. Opening morning I had 3 does and a nice 8 point hanging around. Mid morning, the does kept looking off to my left for 5-10 minutes. I knew something was over there. So I kept a hard look out in that direction. All of a sudden, I see his head poke through the trees and step out. I immediately recognized this buck. I pushed the 308 Win out the window as fast as I could. He was walking across the road broadside and came to a stop as I settled the reticle on his shoulder. He started to walk, and I knew I could make the shot. The suppressed rifle went off, I heard a loud thud from the 152 grain Lehigh Controlled Chaos bullet, and he dropped right where he stood! Bang Flop! After a minute I went up to the buck and was all excited! I went back to the stand to retrieve my gear. When I got to the stand, the excitement and adrenaline hit me. I had zero buck fever for the shot, but it hit me HARD afterwards!!! I was hoping to get this buck during bow season, but I'll certainly take him in rifle season! This is the best buck I've ever killed, and the biggest I've ever seen on any deer lease.

Rifle- Rem 700, 16", 308 Win
Bullet- 152 grain Lehigh Controlled Chaos
Location- outside of Breckenridge, TX

That’s a great buck for sure. Worthy of some other angles of pictures, as well as you in the photo. I hope you give us a score at some point.
You should be very excited as Im sure you are. Congratulations.
Edit.. well heck, your other pics came through as I was posting. up

He looks good. I can't stop looking at that branch stuck in his ear. That had to hurt.

Thanks guys!! The only question we had, was he 15 or 16 points? On the bucks' right antler, the first forward point on his G2 has a kicker forming off the side. I didn't know if that kicker counted as a true point or not. I didn't count it as one. You can see it in the last picture of the buck in the back of the side by side. You can clearly see the kicker on the back antler on the G2.

Great buck!!
If it’s at least an inch it counts as a point in B&C.
