I have been hunting over 60 acres of sunflowers that were just harvested and the dove have been feeding on them like crazy. I have been hunting mornings and evenings. There is a lot of birds up here in the lubbock area right now. I have been limiting out a lot and also shooting a few eurasian collard dove. Here are a few pictures of this season so far.

Beautiful sunset:

I went teal hunting last sunday morning and shot one green wing and one blue wing. Did not see many birds flying at all. Its hard to find water right now for me. I bet if you have a good body of water they will be there. I been dove hunting north east of town.

You said you were hunting a freshly harvested sunflower field-the pic you showed is an unharvested field. So are the birds feeding/sitting on the seed heads atop the stalks?

Forensics will result in realizing that picture of the sunflowers was before the harvest, hence taken on a day prior to the other pictures. texas

Looks like you got a good place out there. Nice hunts.

Thanks guys! Cable- I have been trying different ways of cooking the dove and its been coming out great. pigpen- Yes on opening day the field was unharvested and the dove were landing on the heads. A couple of days after opening day the farmer harvested the seeds.
