Right now it’s showing a 60% chance of rain out west for next weekend. My previous 2 spots on the lease kinda sucked getting to when wet, new spots not as much. As long as it’s not constantly raining I’m ok with it. My trailer is under cover so that’s never a problem. I’m sure we all need the rain.

It’s going to do what it’s going to do, let it rain.

I built a roof over my smoker a few years ago at the Ranch. All but one stand is covered. Bring on the rain! Bill can sit in the stand with no cover.

I'm not gonna complain about rain.

We plan to be out there regardless of weather conditions

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

In young county if it hadn’t been for all the spring rains our tank would be in sad shape . It is still so dry out here. Seed was just planted last weekend so let it rain .

Rain falling on the roof of my ground blind makes for better napping when the rut has you staying put for as long as possible.

As long as it's not 90 degrees, I will be fine with the rain.

I'm hoping for 3 plus inches on our ranch outside Olney! It's way too dry here. The deer will start to move eventually!

Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

1 foot would be nice, our lake is to low. They just added a chance for Wednesday too.

80% chance at lease in Childress for Saturday and Sunday. Roads get so slick it is dangerous to drive them and slide
off into a canyon. So, may be sitting in motel on opening weekend. I hope not, its an 800 mile round trip for me.

Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co.

The red sand roads turn to snot when it rains for sure. They dry out quick with wind and sun, but it’s not looking like it’ll be too sunny. I’d trust your gut.
I’m also watching the forecasts and projections and making contingency plans. Forecast models oughta tighten up by Wednesday or Thursday.
My place is difficult to get to when rainy even in 4wd.
I’ll skip opening weekend for a big mess of rain. All about trade offs.

If it started raining Wednesday in Mills county and stopped sometime Sunday evening, I would be pretty dang happy. I'd be pleased to watch it rain all weekend.

Same here. Going to take a pass on hunting anywhere this weekend. I thought I’d be able to head south the Val Verde and hunt some, but they too are expecting rain and I’m not really looking forward to a 7+ hour drive just for 1 day of hunting. Then I looked at east Texas, and nope, that’s not going to happen either.

If I was toting a 5 year old with me I’d be hunting somewhere, I’ve got no problem sitting in a blind all day in the rain.

Going to be a really wet opener at my Young County lease for sure. And a muddy mess. At least I got the truck for it and the Three Wheeler. I very likely will be needing to retrieve my lease partners kills for them. I am going about three days early and crossbow hunt the incoming front. Only one of my stands is not an open top or tripod so I might as well get some hunting in on those before I possibly get limited to the one enclosed tower blind opening weekend. I also prepared a kill plot a month ago, but never put the seed down and want to get that done first thing and get out. I already did my east texas kill plot a couple days ago so the rain timing is good for that one. The rain is welcome.

The entire state of Texas getting a heavy dump of rain this weekend? Where is this storm coming from that they can forecast this?

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Looks like we are going to be wet out on the Divide. I'm good with it. We need it. I'll go hunting anyway and just see what happens.

Well, there is a 20% prediction it is not going to rain. wink
The storm chaser forecast I watched mentioned a dip in the upper level jet stream as the reason. There also was talk of a colder front possible closer to the 5th. But yea this far out, the computer model predictions often change or the day it starts changes. But at 80% chance forecasted now for the region I am in, I think it is safe to say rain is coming on or close to those dates where I will be.

I thought the moisture was coming from a disturbance in the Pacific?

I guess that is where it is coming from then.
