Reminds me of watching Denzel in Crimson Tide. Great movie, he and Hackman are the best!

Somehow my YouTube algorithm has had some nuclear ☢️ war talk.
I had no idea a nuke could make it here in 15-20 minutes. Minus government response, we have a 2-3 minute heads up. West Texas is pretty safe from fallout.

Had ASROC on our tincan and it was rumored that they were nukes. I know when we off loaded them in Newport RI it was a pain in the butt. Had to stand security watch for the off loading in sub freezing weather and security was at it's highest.

Why would they transport it overland instead of flying it?

Why would they transport it overland instead of flying it? To avoid this...
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I have heard there is nothing in those trucks. It’s a distraction.

Spent 3 years on the USS Pyro AE-24. Last ship in the Pacific Fleet that was capable of hauling large numbers of nukes. It has 3 FZ holds. When they shut down the base in Subic Bay we made 8 trips across the pond to retrieve nukes. Took them to Concord Naval Weapons Station in the Bay Area of CA. Duty on an ammo ship is spooky since everything you haul around can go BOOM!

Looks like Great Falls, Malmstrom AFB folks look after a few missile silos in that area.

I was part of a nuclear security force when stationed in Germany, security for the Pershing 2 Intermediate range rockets. When we held field training exercise's the warheads mounted on the missiles were fake, concrete mostly. But, we always had two live warheads with us because if the balloon went up while we were out there was no time to go back and get the real ones off the hard site.

Surprised they did not have more of the heavier armed vehicles up front of the warheads instead of behind it? Someone elaborate on this strategy.

We take a class every few years put on by the WlPP guys out of New Mexico about how to respond to an accident involving the WIPP trucks hauling radioactive waste. They also touch on these OST trucks hauling warheads. The point they like to hammer home is that they have no problem shooting you so make sure you are cooperating with them fully if the truck is involved in an accident.

Someone elaborate on this strategy. that's not the way it was when I was in. 2 suburbans up front, followed by two semi's (only one had the warheads) followed by 2 more suburbans. why draw attention with armor?

I don’t think that original video is typical. You normally don’t even know they are transporting them through. Definitely not hauling them with lights and sirens across the country.

They aren't hauling them across country. This occurs when they do maintenance on an ICBM and/or missile silo and haul the warhead to the local base. or maybe the warhead is due for maintenance. In this case the 341st Missile Wing is located at Malmstrom AFB. The USA still has about 450 active ICBM missile silos. https://www.malmstrom.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/346869/341st-missile-wing/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/341st_Missile_Wing_LGM-30_Minuteman_missile_launch_sites
