When have you killed your biggest buck? I killed mine in the evening but see way more deer in the morning. I am bowhunting public land so no feeder to bring them at a certain time.

Morning. I prefer shooting in the morning so I’m not pressured to get it cleaned, etc before dark.

Same as Jimbo 1. In the evening it has to be a big buck or a pig. I would rather sip a cold beer than jack with a deer. Morning is great for skinnin, quartering and icing, great for the guide I guess, I'll be eating breakfast

Evenings for me. Love the mornings, but seems like I see more in evenings.

Biggest one was taken in the evening within an hour of a strong cold front blowing through which gave me the wind I needed to hunt him. I’ve killed the most what I consider big, mid day, by far. Maybe it’s because I’m a morning person, but I prefer hunting in the morning and feel the most optimistic about my chances. Experience has taught when I’m hunting a particularly elusive buck to go after him mid day and be on my toes though.

Morning. I prefer shooting in the morning so I’m not pressured to get it cleaned, etc before dark. Same here. Much easier to find a deer (No, not every deer I shoot is DRT) and get everything ready to clean and put everything away in the daylight. And this is especially true on a Sunday when you also need to pack for the return home.

As far as killing "big" deer, it would be in the AM
But I prefer the morning overall like others ^ ^ ^ have said. First off in the morning, plenty of time to look around if it got that adrenaline shot and made it to the brush, and mostly because it sucks really bad ( to me ) trying to cut up an animal in the blankety blanking dark whether flashlights/headlights, spotlight, etc. I can just do it way faster and cleaner and safer in the daylight. If there's a need to drive to town to get extra ice, the little stores are more likely to be open during daylight hours. Plenty of time to clean everything up before eating, bedtime, etc.
Not that I don't/won't hunt a PM hunt, because I'm not going to miss any opportunity for hunting, but the daylight advantages are more in my favor

The biggest deer I have shot were in the morning. But the biggest deer I see are always in the evening. We feed protein and the deer come in the evening and feed through the night. The morning can be really slow, usually just deer passing through.

I’m about 70/30 on mature whitetail evening vs. morning.
Honestly I prefer the evening hunt myself. Just like that time of day better.
Every single whitetail on my wall came from an evening hunt.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

This has come up before and it seems before that most like evenings which surprises me. I definitely prefer mornings. It may be because you can keep hoping it may be good any minute but evening theres an end coming so its easy to lose optimism. My bigger kills have been in the morning or midday. For what its worth I almost always hunt all day long. Ive never understood the need or desire to go back to camp. I guess if you prefer football to hunting but I dont. You probably wont see near as many deer in midday but you may see a big one. edit... I just did a little rough inventory in my mind and my good deer have been almost half morning and half midday and very few in the evening.

Rarely come back into camp, mainly due to distance and having to travel twice as far. During prime hunting time/weather I will deer hunt all day. The bucks I see during mid day are few but nearly 100% of them are mature. And no football allowed at this ranch

They dont just make one color truck. In other words, theres nothing wrong with watching football at the lease. Some, maybe most, look at deer hunting as just general outdoor recreation so if they throw in fishing, eating, drinking, football etc then its just an extension of the hunt. For me hunting really big mature deer is a really big part of my life so nothing much gets in the way of it. Its not the same for everyone. Sorry if this got slightly off topic but it came from not picking morning or evening to hunt but instead hunt all day.

Seen and killed more nice bucks in mornings but have taken some good ones late day too. Prefer taking them in full daylight in case they run after shot.

Afternoon for me. I have passed on 3 deer in the morning and then shot them the same afternoon. I`ve also let my son hunt my blind in the afternoon the last 2 seasons after I passed on a deer that morning so he would have a good chance to kill it in the afternoon. He was successful both times and I had tag soup.

Three biggest, all in the morning. I just opened up the safe and pulled out the list, every buck, the county, how many points and AM or PM AM: 22 PM: 25 Bigger bucks, AM by a land slide. When you start shooting them when you're 10 years old they add up.

I am about half in the morning and half in the evening. I prefer morning better somthing about a sunrise. The biggest buck I have taken so far was at 2::00 in the afternoon during rut.

It’s right at 50/50 for me. However I hunt far more afternoons than mornings so kill percentage would be higher in the mornings for me. I have hunted a good portion of the state over the last 35 years and only shot 1 buck in the middle of the day so I don’t waste my time with that anymore. My cameras tell me I ain’t missing much anyway.

As other said I like morning hunts the best, you get to choose when the hunt ends. All but 2 on my wall I shot before 11a. My biggest buck though was shot about 15 minutes before dark. .

80% of my big bucks are in the morning. But got a couple of nice ones in the evenings. My wife is 50/50 on big bucks in morning or evenings with some great kills during both times.
