Going to 3-18x costs ya a 1/4lb Being a 6x reticle, bottom end is going to be pretty skinny for daylight and dark.

I haven't found any scope at 18x that truly works great at the last few minutes, I generally have to back off the magnification and that is with the best scopes out there.. I do like the idea of reduced weight with the 30mm tube vs 34/5 of a "tactical" scope as you don't probably need that much elevation capability hunting.
Been running a Steiner Tactical 3-15x50 on my 16" 308 the last few years for hunting and it has worked great, having said that, for my normal "max" hunting of around 500 the LHRS 3-12 absolutely does the job,
