I kinda don't see it as any worse than hunting at my other ranch. It's still deer coming in to a feeder regardless of the range or set up.

How do you plan to "harvest" him? John Deere with some equipment in tow? Do you plan to save his skull cap and replant next year?

I wasn't aware there was such a thing as a pet deer, hmm, learn something new everyday.

Do it just once or occasionally, and the other deer won't care at all.
We've got a feeder near the ranch house. I put it far enough away across a canyon to keep it from being a house feeder. Usually just watch it (with binocs if you want a detailed view). But I'm not too good to get out the .17 and shoot a turkey for Thanksgiving off of it. And if a really mature shooter was frequenting it, I'd have no qualms about putting the hurt on him.

I have been known to set my cigar and martini down and bushwhack an axis from the front porch, when the darn things are in the area. I do change my flip-flops out for proper shoes to retrieve the kill.
