I'm going fishing. Last year I limited out on cats Sunday morning on opening weekend, had the lake to myself. I don't get excited about hunting until around Christmas since I hunt south Texas.

Leave for Wichita County about 11 am and get settled in at the KOA. Check on the stands and make sure everything is ready for Saturday morning. Then get ready to cook some good grub for Friday night!!

Tell me....what days do you take off leading up to the opener? I'll work on Thursday, come home and pack up the truck and leave to the ranch early Friday morning, staying till noon on Sunday. We will have 7 hunters with some of their family at the ranch having a good time with food, beer and party time! Very similar. Work Thursday, Halloween party that night. Leave Friday mid/late morning to get down in time to check feeders and timers. Meet several buddies down there, sit by fire, drink a few, and start stacking deer like cord wood Saturday. Probably the best browse in a decade. Deer look great. This is a year for killing.

Since I am fortunate enough to be only 1.5hrs away, I will leave around noon on Friday and come back mid day on Monday.

Well before I was laid off from a job that I had 18 days of vacation along with every other Friday off. I would take off Thursday & Friday and drive back home Monday night after the hunt. Now I have a job that is strictly PTO and had to burn most of my budgeted hunting PTO after hurricane Beryl came Thru, so that in Combination with Stepson's Friday night Football game I will be leaving Friday night after the game (2.5 hours to lease) and coming back Sunday afternoon.
