Awesome! Cap guns were so fun back in the day. Just hours and hours of fun.... Cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers... I think my coolest cap gun was a Planet of the Apes model or something weird like that.

That is exactly me. Blond hair and all. I loved watching Lone Ranger.
I remember vividly my Dad sitting in his chair watching Gunsmoke and I evidently wasnt ready for the beginning. I came running into the room with my "gun" and slid in on my socks(like Tom Cruise) and pulled on the bad guy just as Matt did. If you are my age you know that music at the beginning.....

It was on facebook - not actually a picture of me but of what I did back in the day - also would sit on the arm of the sofa like I was riding a horse with the Lone Ranger - was an awesome time to grow up

Freerange, you painted a great mental picture with what you said.

My wife said that when she was a kid there was an old lady relative that loved shoot-em-ups and would get behind the couch and peek out to avoid getting hit with a stray bullet.

Tried to post the intro to the Lone Ranger but I dont know how. Gunsmoke would be great to post to. Such a big part of my childhood and also watched as I sat with my Mom the last couple years of her life a few years ago. She had seen all those episodes so many times.
Growing up with that(and Andy and Barnie etc) as opposed to whats on TV today has to have some bearing on the current generation.

Very important. Kids need to be bored occasionally; a lot now never are.

Lone Ranger theme song- William Tell Overture is what blared over the airwaves and speakers announcing the beginning of an exercise (war games) at Kunsan AB when I was there in 85-87. It was followed by “the Commander of the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing wishes everyone a good day.”

I love it. Thanks. Now how about the intro to Gunsmoke. The gunfight, not the riding the horse.

Gunsmoke and Have Gun Will Travel were always on, on Saturday night when I was a kid. Sometimes I play the intros to Lassie and Rin Tin Tin for the my dogs just to wake them up. Gets their attention real quick.

we only got one channel where I grew up, on a good day we could get PBS out of San Antonio but that was rare. Gunsmoke came on Sat. evening and we had to beg to watch it since it was past our bed time, but dad would usually give in. I only got to watch the Lone Ranger if I was over visiting one of my friends that had cable (fancy), Lassie was hit or miss for us but I do remember watching it some, just don't recall why or when it came on.

We'd have a lot less problems if they still produced shows like The Lone Ranger and Lassie. I watched Lassie a LOT. 'Still remember Rat Patrol. up

Kemosabe - what a great nickname and maybe only second to Natty Bumpo's Hawk Eye.

Back in the 70's when most were still Patriotic, My Father who produced the 4th of July show in the Cotton Bowl. The finale always included the Dallas Symphony Orchestra along with the Commandants Own, Marine Drum and Bugel Corps. They played The Willian Tell Overture. There was 4-5 105 Howitzers on Cason's which would fire off at the part of the song you ALL would recognize. Damm those things were loud and would spit tails of fire and sparks in the dwindling light of the evening. It rattled the entire Cotton Bowl.

Great memories!

This is exactly what I'm talking about but back in the 70's

Heck even I had my cowboy hat and bounce horse when I was little, me and the Lone Ranger rode many dusty trails together. And with the Cartwrights on Bonanza and The Rifleman.
