Based on pics from the last few weeks, they apparently drove down 114, had a burger at Herd’s & decided to set up shop in Jacksboro again…. I live outside of Jacksboro and i hope you are right. (I didnt see the pics you’re rederring to) I have friends and family that fly in a couple of times a year to hang out and hunt hogs on my property . Funny thing is they are here this weekend and we have 2 hogs down and hoping for more tonight. We like the hogs here as a food source and for hunting. (We have a million deer, with large buck and there is almost no hunting pressure around here other than occasionaly here.) We would really be bummer if they werent around. I dont deny that if i was trying to plant crops, I would probably feel different. I hate hearing hogs destroying folks livelihoods that is for sure! Cheers!

Firday nite, nothing but 3 doe followed close by a pretty good buck. Few yote howls Fri. Sat heard somebody nearby trying to immitte a yote howl. Funny. But did get some respose howls. Saturday nite, doe ate corn for 15 min. Darn. Tried to wait til she was through but had to pack up before it finished. Heard a single shot Fri nite ways away, nothing Sat. ATV had a low tire Sat morn, SIL aid his BIL aired it up last time used. Spent most of Sat getting it off and plugged - but discout put too much air in it. Sitting in the car at WM and heard the plug blow out. Only uses 5 psi, not 35#. Did get a floor jack and some stand for the ranch. Taking a tire off with a farm jack isn't the safest thing to do.

Oh they are around, they may just not be on your place. They are nomadic as hell. How many tanks do you have? They will find water and mud somewhere. This^ and they are mostly nocturnal now. Put some corn out with attractant and they will come

I am surprised no one has mentioned that this exact subject was discussed on this forum just earlier this year. Even almost the exact same title: Where have the hogs gone? It's an interesting subject. We are up on the Divide (high plateau between Kerrville and Rocksprings). We were covered up for years, including post-freeze. But we don't have many around now. I think it's dried out, and they're heading down to the creeks / river bottoms at the moment. Just a guess.

Place has couple dried up holes and several good large ponds with water. Put out corn but deer got it, seems like only show up after dark. Did see something in the scrub Fri nite but never got a good view to ID it. Looked like hog size but not taking a chance. But lots of these. He was just behind the 3 does. Looks like hard antlers so out of velvet.

Where have the hogs gone? Really, nowhere. If you had hogs and now you don't, it isn't that they have gone, but that they just aren't hitting your place. Chances are, you don't own the 15 miles of land that they can roam. The difference is one of perspective. They are still in their range or territory, but they are not in your range or territory despite the fact that yours overlaps with part of theirs.

Mostly cattle, hay, pine and watermelon nearby. So, yup, they wander a bit.

I am happy they are gone...even though I enjoyed shooting them. No more torn up pastures. I am just wondering where they went. I don't buy they are still in their home range. I had hogs for 9 years...then nothing for the last year and a half.

They are thick here in Lamar, Delta, and Red River counties.
Uprisings started or quelled, tornadoes rerouted, elections rigged.

I've killed 77 on my place this year. 'Still plenty on the hoof. And I have no live water, just some troughs and one small tank.

I am just wondering where they went. I don't buy they are still in their home range. Believe what you will. Your view of your property is like mine on my property, myopic. You don't know what is going on around you for the distance that is the home range of the hogs that show up at your property. I will give you and example. I hunt approximately 20 properties in Montague County, 19 of which I don't own. I have a property where we haven't shot hogs this year. We have shot a lot of hogs there in the past 5 years, however. Less than a mile up the road, I have two properties on which I see hogs fairly frequently. So yes, they can still be in their range and still not hitting your property. It may be that some farmer has put in some juicy fields and the hogs have better feed elsewhere, so don't bother hitting your place. It is possible you have neighbors (maybe miles away from you) that have heli-hunted and trapped and shot the hell out of the local population, but they never get them all. But those would not be questions that could be answered here. It isn't like the hogs are migratory.
