Yep, my favorite too. I'm not up on my Vandy football, is that a vandy thing or did they just make him up?

Tides coach torched his team in postgame interview, not very classy.
Glad the dumbazzes who set the polls got it right this week.
move the pretenders down. I think SMU can take bama. Sorry RT, I know you love them and that's cool.

Culture is everything thing. SMU isn’t ready for Bama. Not far off but still need a few years. Front line isn’t there yet. I would not want to be South Carolina this week. I think that’s going to be Georgia/TCU where the giant was awakened.

I have not been sold on Bama’s new 4-2-5 defense from the beginning. Not sold on DC or execution. Vandy called an excellent game and executed. They kept ball, Bama only had 17 minutes of offensive possession and scored 35 points. This rest solely on defense/coaching.
defense should have been ripped for the second half against Georgia. Everyone let it slide and congratulated themselves.

From what I saw It’s not much different then a 3-4-5, the Outside linebacker is down or up. DC just needs to send the LB and safeties more. Make them get beat via a check off. Just seemed like timid stunt calls

Saban ran a 3-4 defense, with a strong edge rusher. Basically replaced edge guy and replaced with strong side defensive end. The edge guy has been key to Bamas defensive success.
This 4-2-5 is good against pass, but seems vulnerable to run. It could be called a 3-3-5. It’s basically nickel, which is used often anyway. Coverage is now “swarm” opposed to a pattern match zone. DC took personnel and made them learn this system and changed some guys body sizes. Put weight on some dropped weight on others.
Personally, I think it should have been a gradual defensive change. Not toss out Saban and Kirby’s defense.

Personally, I think it should have been a gradual defensive change. Not toss out Saban and Kirby’s defense. IMO I don’t think the defense differs much over last year. His names are counter intuitive though(sting is weak side linebacker?), nonetheless names don’t change core, especially when you look at individual personnel in positions, from what I have seen it’s really just more terminology, shading differences and zone packages. Most defensives are 3-4 iteration and your outside strong linebacker is either more linebacker or more edge/lineman and strong safety is either more line backer or safety. That’s it out side of shading and balance look Demarcus ware would have been a perfect wolf/linebacker/edge for 4-2-5. I just think they thought they could out athlete Vandy and where way to conservative on play calling on D. linebackers seldom met a block at line of scrimmage. The whole team missed lots of takes though. They didn’t wrap up and did play down hill. Think right now it’s just gut check for that defense, some fingers can be pointed at offensive but still defense should never give up more then 10 to vandy

I agree. Huge identity issues on defense. Vandy seemed to run the same 6-7 plays. Bama has a 5 star edge, Keon Keeley. They put about 30 pounds on him. I’m waiting for him to hit portal any day now.

I do think they come out for blood this week and wreck shop… this week is a bad week to play bama It’s time for 7-6 NC game. where both defenses just ground it out for 4 full quarters
