Dang!! Hope you heal up quickly. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve never had anything quite that bad happen to my hand. I have, however, had to clean up after a few industrial accident involving digits. One time was an Easter egg hunt for a chunk of glove with a finger still in it. I did find it, but the docs could not reattach.

Man, that's going to hurt for a while. Sorry, that's a heck of an injury.

I’ve come close to doing that several times. Just didn’t get unlucky. Of course, there have been plenty of other screw ups needing stitches.

Hope you heal easily and well.

First off, I am glad it looks like they can save your finger and make it fully functional. Second, I am proud of you watching them clean it up and bandage it. You are so right that the deadening shots hurt worse than the cutting did. I watched them clean my little finger and got to see my tendons working like they should before the doctor started sowing things up from the inside out. Only 11 stitches to put it back together, afraid you will have many, many more than that. Praying for good results Friday and a fairly pain free but full recovery.

Update: I’ll see the hand guy on Friday morning. Shortly thereafter will be the hand job. Good to see your sense of humor is still intact.

603, You are proof that aging isn't for sissies. You must be like my wife's dad, Once a Marine Always a Marine! Hope recovery from that doesn't ruin the trips you mentioned when you lost the Main Coon.

Ahhh, the Maine Coon Cat, Sunny. The wife started crying again last night. What’s a guy to do? All I can think to do is get another one. Never bought a cat in my life, but will do it soon. She’s finally on board with the concept of a new kitten. The big issue is that although we’ve had a lot of cats, big Sunny was number 1 in her heart. Gonna be hard to replace him.
As for the finger, I’m staying off the Hydrocodone as long as possible - only taking a pill when the pain can’t be ignored.
Even though I can’t see the finger under all that wrap, I can feel that the control tendons are in place and working. That’s good news.
Unclebubba, glad you noticed the “hand job” comment. I thought it was funny…
Hopefully, my sense of humor will help tomorrow

Good luck with a full recovery on this. Man that looks bad - but surgeons are magicians these days. Hang in there with the pain & there is nothing wrong with taking pain meds even with minor discomfort. Yours is a lot worse, but reminds me of a picture I saw of a guy's thumb that got in front of his crossbow string.

Well, I sure wasn’t trying for this week’s Darwin Award, though I might have it by default. The pain isn’t too bad. My real concern is how long I’ll be out of action. Right now, other than the baby cradle, I have nothing on the radar that has to be done. That won’t last. The pregnant granddaughter is only 4 months along, so I’ll surely have time to finish the cradle up. I wonder if the Doc will give me the Ok to do light duty woodworking.
I could do some shredding if there was anything needing shredding. No way could I reattach the shredder using one hand though. The neighbor would probably do it if I asked.
I suppose everything has to be on hold till after the surgery, and I find out what was necessary and how serious it was.
I’m not a guy that can sit around and do nothing for any period of time. Cooler weather would cause me to hunt. That would be good.

Seeing that made my knees hurt…and I’m not a queasy kind of guy. Blood and gore has little effect on me but that looks painful! The more superficial stuff usually is!
Prayers for a speedy recovery!
