First, before dark, I spotted this young coyote at the tree line watching the landowners dogs. 2 small rappers that stay in the fenced in yard - 4 ft chain link, easily scalable. She was fixated on them, which allowed me to pick up, pivot, and relocate a few feet. She was so fixated she never saw me, even though it was still light out. 105 yard heads hot. Follow up as she spun.
An hour later, after dark, the boar came to the feeder. Hunted him several times, the last about a month ago. Green light on the edge of its throw spooked him every time. The last time he came back after 20 minutes and literally stood nearby for 25 minutes until he settled. Green light spooked him again. I figured I'd need to let him be for a while to get him more comfortable. Fast forward a month.
He came right in to feed. I watched him for a few minutes with the thermal spotter and it was go time. Hit the green light and it took me a hot moment to get crisshairs where he was. He alerted and moved about 15 feet and stopped to look my way. Mistake made. Dude was so big I literally could not move him or drag him with a rope. Trust me I wore myself out trying.
