Looking real good and you did the build right and certainly cheaper than a bought build out. Looking for to the next installment of your electrical. Are you adding air vents or anything for the Ranger storage area?

I’ll keep the wiring simple with a shore plug, a few outlets and plug and go LED Light strips. I’ll come through the front wall. I’m thinking the existing vents will be enough. No?

I keep leaning this way for my next setup. I need a 40 foot with a 14 foot garage, maybe less if I buy a lease truck instead of another SXS

Freestanding, attach at floor and attach to rafters to a single top plate . Technically you don’t even need headers on interior doors as it’s zero weight bearing. I built my wall frames out side walked them in and screwed them down

On ac look at one with heat strip. But it is hard to beat a $20 milk barn heater

Small space heater. I’ve heated a cargo trailer bigger than this with no insulation using one. Usually have to turn it off in the night. Sleeping warm is easy. Keeping it cool with the smallest window unit I can find should work. I’ll be sleeping right in front of it.

I remember thinking that an old van with a window ac and a mattress would make me happy. That was many years, and many deer leases ago. I got lucky and had a few really good jobs come along and enabled me to buy a Excaliber retreat. I was very fortunate to have the funds for it and I'm very grateful. [Linked Image]

Thanks onlysmithandwesson. As a lifelong framing carpenter, I can say your framing skills look spot on. Nice job on your build.

Thanks. Self taught. 30-35 years ago I had a framer hired to do a remodel job. Flat out didn’t show up. I bought a miter saw, speed square and the book and never looked back. Screwed some stuff but I learned for what I was about to pay the man 2 x 4’s are cheap. Cut another one.

My Conex was $3400.00 delivered. I built an 8' bunk room, insulated. I'll add lighting and wiring and have about $700.00 in materials. To build out the whole thing, leaving no room to park the ranger.............maybe $1200.00. There would be less waste. If you know how to frame it's easy. Two men could knock this out in a weekend. It's a clean, warm, dry place to sleep and change clothes in. We have a kitchen cabin for everything else.

Material final cost after returning unused lumber ended up right at $510.00. About 20 total hours. As mentioned, it's just a small bedroom.

Yes, it gets very hot inside. This worked great. 2 coats and it is actually cooler inside with the doors open than in the shade outside. I assume that's due to the lack of heat coming off the ground. I've got 1/2 of this left, check the classifieds if interested.

The Ranger has been hard to start when stored for two weeks during the heat. I'm hoping cooler temp's and this stuff helps. The Ranger has always fired right up with a touch on the key.

I used lanco Coolguard Elastomeric version and it made a big difference. Before in 100 plus weather my container would hold @ 70 mid day with AC. Now is will get to and hold 60

Gotta watch all the 'plastic' foam stuff that outgasses nasty stuff over time. Same with chip board. Make sure you got lots of fresh air. And circulating air between the outside metal shell and inside. Good circulation in fuel areas too.

The unfinished portion of mine has no insulation, just a hot box. My Ranger is hard to start after cooking in there for two weeks not being started. I'm not exactly how the injectors work but I think fuel is evaporating at some point and it takes a few cranks to start up. It was way, way cooler after this stuff went down.

That is a really nice setup you have there Sir, great piece of work!

Are you considering putting up roof access for viewing or glassing the area?

If it were in another location, maybe. Nothing to see from camp where it is set up.

I worked for a container business building out Conex's for offices, workshops and hunting cabins. Here are some of my projects. I don't do these anymore but it was fun for some extra $$$ on the side.
This one is a 40' high cube double door. Office with 14' back storage room. Also perfect for hunting cabin. Back storage was large enough for a crew Polaris.

Nice looking job! Everything looks professional. I like the plywood walls better than the smart siding others use. Stained it would give you the cabin feel without the 1x6 cost and labor.
