No surprise, great player and good guy. Most great WRs are trouble makers.

Glad they signed him, but they're going nowhere. Should have let Dak walk last time, they'll double-down this time and make the same mistake, and it will likely cost us Parsons.

I’m a former fan that got tired of getting bent over by JJ while he laughs all the way to the bank. The Cowboys are never gonna win another championship without new ownership regardless of who they sign to take their fan’s eye off the ball…..

136 million to play football for 4 years...I'm sorry the NFL has gotten totally out-of-control, if I owned the team, I'd wave at them as they walked out the door.

Imagine what it would be like without a salary cap, which Jerry invented, Jerry was way ahead of the curve on that one.

It's gonna take more than Dak and CeeDee to win that ring. Defense needs to buckle up and play lights out. We need calibers we once had like Russell Maryland Haley Woodson Brown Ken Norton Casillas Bill Bates.....

I don’t share the same warped view of it as you do Marc. It’s just a game to me I watch on Sunday afternoons. But if you want to view it as bending over for Jerry so he can poke you with his big one, well I’m not gonna try and stop ya.

My son inlaw just came over and told me about Daks deal.

Think about it, 4 years $240 mil= $60 mil per year, $231 Mil guaranteed. Considering how he has failed in the playoffs every year, especially how bad he played just last year at home against Green Bay. hammer

That is just stupid money to give him now? They should have let him play this final year, if he leads the Cowboys to the Super Bowl and wins then okay give him that kind of money, if he has another playoff bust then pay him a lot less or let him go elsewhere.

Even if he did lead them to a super bowl win, I doubt there would be hardly any difference in the money they would have to pay him then vs what they paid now.

Watson was the best trade for Houston to Cleveland. He has proved to be a dud and the Cowboys are exploiting it.

If you tell me they keep winning 12 games a season, like they have last 3 seasons which has not been done since the SB days, I’ll take it.

I guess they don’t plan on retaining Parsons. We can look forward to a rapid decline over the next 4 years as Dak eats up all the cap space. You don’t pay top money to a choke artist.

After half a game?

His insight is good. Have to get used to his delivery, He seems to know when to be quiet though.

Dak looked good first half, sucked the second half just like it was the playoffs.

That's how they looked last year right up to the first playoff game. I can't remember what happened after that.

No room for complacency if you really want to be a champion, that is why Dallas will not win another Super bowl, because JJ and like minded people are okay with just another winning season as long as the team keeps rolling in the $$$$$$$$$$$

They are playing Cleveland.

Exactly. Dak missed 4 or 5 passes today either short, late or behind the receiver. He's certainly no $240 million dollar QB. Good Grief.

The thing I find curious….everyone who thinks Jerry Jones is only about rolling in money…let’s assume for a sec that this is true. Wouldn’t Jerry, and like minded people want to monetize that mindset? Which would be to win championships? Would not championships bring in money in multiples of 12 win seasons?

I think you can certainly argue his methods, but I find it hard to question his motive.

Dak’s contract is actually very cap friendly. Of the 240 million 80 million is bonus money. His cap hit is going to be $40 million which is about 15 million less than this year

I bought my cowboys to win Super Bowl ticket in Vegas 2 weeks ago! It’s never too early lol. Made a wager on the cowboys to win the superbowl and the longhorns to win the national championship. Cowboys was way higher odds!

I was a Colts fan before the National Felon League took a knee to the woke crap. They have won a Super Bowl and been relevant since the cowgirls have been. They very likely suck now and I couldn’t possibly care less…

I take it they won today since the Super Bowl has been mentioned rofl I’m glad they signed Dak, that means it’ll be another 4 years before they are relevant again wink

Anyone with just a tiny bit football savvy who has watched Dak crumble and lose under the pressure of the playoffs every year, should look no further than the second half of yesterdays game, he sucked!!
As long as Dak is the QB, they will not be relevant so far as super bowl conversations..

How long has it been since they've won a Superbowl? And how many players have they been through, since? You just have to ask yourself, why?

1996 and there hasn't been a single season since the media has not proclaimed "this is the year" rofl Fun fact, you can still count on 1 hand how many playoff games they have won since but this is the year rolleyes

I wish people had common sense and realized that in extending Dak and CeeDee the Cowboys clear cap space. Dak clears about $20M and CeeDee $15M. The Cowboys have the 12th most cap going into next year and the 5th most in ‘26. The Cowboys can easily afford Micah Parsons. Big extension ≠ No money afterwards

No sports fan, or owner for that matter, is “ok” with not winning a Super Bowl. You are ignorant if you really believe that, which I don’t think you are. It’s just internet troll BS.

I guess it all depends on what your definition of “ok” is.

There is a difference between what I'm saying and what you are saying. I'm saying if you are to tell me they are good enough to keep winning 12 games a season, it is hard to complain about Dak and McCarthy. I have said it many times on this forum the reason they have yet to make a deep playoff run is lack of HC leadership, which is essential to make a run in the playoffs. And it is because of Jerry leading this team, when it should be the HC, he is a terrible leader, he has set a terrible culture here, which includes what you are saying, so I agree with some of what you are say.

Jerry did not over pay for Dak, he paid market rate. If you do not understand that you do not understand how QB contracts work in the NFL. Dak gets more if he goes to free agency next year, unless he injures himself or his performance dramatically drops.

I'm actually not "ok" with letting Dak go, and tanking years and years, God only knows for how long, to find someone better than Dak. I would rather they replace Dak, when they have someone they think is better. They need to keep working that #3 QB spot on prospects, till they find a replacement. That is what good teams do. Cowboys replaced Romo, because they thought they had someone they thought was better.

"As long as Dak is the QB, they will not be relevant so far as super bowl conversations.." but more importantly as long as JJ remains in charge... no Rings. I agree with Guy that need a HC with authority, in-charge and get back to team & players demonstrating on & off field (there are a few exceptions) good character earning respect. Stupid is as Stupid Does.

It is not that he is ok with it, it is that he does not like the alternative, which is not a good one, which is to replace Dak with Cooper or Lance, and suck for years and years in hopes of finding a replacement better than Dak. But I agree and Jerry himself said it a couple days ago it is going to be hard to retain good players with what they are having to pay Dak, so winning will become harder.

But as I said above, a better alternative than tanking and sucking for years and years, is to draft and develop a QB to replace Dak.

Nothing is worse than watching a team with a terrible QB, and winning 3 to 8 games a season and missing the playoffs. I probably will not watch most of that, that is just me though. As I said to Pitchfork, it is a game I watch as entertainment. Tanking is not very entertaining to watch, unless you are a hater of the team. Which is something else I do not really understand that mentality.

I'll guarantee you Jerry had his figures crossed Lance would have shown enough promises as a potential replacement to Dak that he would not have had to sign Dak. But Jerry has the right idea by working that #3 QB spot to find a replacement. It is probably time to move on from Lance and replace him with another QB prospect.

The "Boys have had worse QBs than Dak and that is for sure. Staubach and Aikman are about the only 2 in recent history that are better than Dak, but that may be comparing apples to oranges considering how much the pro game has changed in the last 15-20 years. If they really want something to change, JJ needs to be gone as owner and head coach needs to be given authority to coach his way, or be turned loose.

Look at what the Tuna did when he got here to deal with the bad culture. The rookies in training camp did not have a star on their helment, this was to get rid of the glitz culture here. And he made the number one draft pick fetch him water, here he was sending a clear message that he is the boss, not Jerry. Too bad we got the Tuna at the end of his career when he was a lot softer.

It really does not matter. As long as the Jones family owns the team, the Cowboys will be a laughing stock with continued media attention, delusional fans and the forever dangling carrot.

Yup.

So, the Cowboys continue to grab media attention, they have delusional fans, they garner some 800 million dollars in stadium revenue, and they are worth 11 billion dollars.

I dunno, but if that’s a laughing stock, I’d bet almost every other professional sports team owner would be happy to be in the Jones family shoes.

They'll never understand. Jerry needs to stick to working with numbers and get out of the way and let someone competent run the team and make player decisions. The "Fans" can't see the forest for the trees. They're so wrapped up in the players themselves.

If you knew anything about what was going on you would know Jerry is not making the player decisions, Will McClay has been doing that for a long time now, he is effectively the GM. Jerry does nothing but rubber stamps these decisions and gets in the way of things, he's got you fooled thinking he calls the shots. rofl

As long as the beat the Washington Redskins I'm good with them. I strongly dislike anything about that whole DC area. Actually that stretches pretty much to anything East of the Mississippi. Only reason I cross that river nowadays is I have a daughter in South Carolina.

Jerry does nothing but rubber stamps these decisions and gets in the way of things, he's got you fooled thinking he calls the shots. rofl

You're in denial. He has he's hands in everything. He goes to sleep at night dreaming of running a post route and taking it in for a touchdown. He probably has an earpiece up in his box stand calling plays.

The last time Jerry tried to make a draft pick was Johnny Manziel, lucky Stephen was able to talk him out of it and listen to McClay and they picked Zack Martin instead.

I'm sure Jerry did make the final decision on resigning Dak. McClay probably said "Jerry, it is like this, resign Dak and pay the market price, and know what you are getting, or let him walk next season, take a $40m cap hit in dead money, and we will probably suck for years till will draft a new QB that is better." There is really not a right or wrong answer on this. I think resigning Dak is a better path, and do a better job of scouting and developing the next QB. Tanking is no fun, unless you are a cowboy hater and internet troll, you would have a lot of fun with it.

How in the world do you know this is true? I'd like to see proof. If that's your opinion, fine. My opinion is Jones is a football idiot that makes dumb football decisions (still) like he always has. I cannot even say he's good with money any more after costing himself an extra several million dollars on Dak for the SECOND time. I'm not saying he shouldn't have re-signed him. I am saying the delays with the deals BOTH times made the deals much more expensive.

You nailed with good QB's taking pay cuts to help their team. Those are the QB's and their teams mindset that really want to win a championship.
As long as JJ is doing such a terrible job with contracts, the players and their agents will continue to take advantage of him.

Just a small sample of JJ history of bad decisions on contracts.

Zeke the Freak Elliiot. While Zeke is partying in Mexico, he demands a new contract after only two years in a 4 year contract. JJ caves gives him all of the money and Zeke comes back to camp looking like Bozo the clown with piercing all over his body, his on and off field performance went down hill right after the signing.
Did you notice how clean cut Zeke was in New England and now back with the Cowboys he is reverting back to the Bozo the Clown look hammer
Oh and to think they could have signed Derrick Henry who is a hell of a lot better running back than Zeke, who lives in the DFW area and openly stated that he wanted to play for the Cowboys. bang

Jaylon Smith 2nd round pick that tore his knee up in the Fiesta Bowl with a ACL and MCL tears along with nerve damage. Cowboys project player they sit him out his first year.
Gets on the field and has two decent years and the Cowboys resign him to a big contract, he sucks right after.

DeMarcus Lawrence demanded a new contract while injured, Cowboys say they will entertain it only if he takes physical and they look at his injury.
DLaw says no and they sign him anyways.

Daks previous contract, they could have signed him a year earlier and saved a ton of money, nope JJ played the game and lost again.

The list of just poor contract negotiations and ploys that the Cowboys have failed at go on and on.

Guy I know you talk about Daks new contract clearing up cap space to sign other players, well if JJ and Stephen had handled his previous contract the right way, they would not be in the situation they were in on this new absurd contract.

Why on Gods Green earth would you pay Dak or any other QB the richest contract in NFL history when they prove year after year that they are a bust in the playoffs and this is with with good players on both sides of the line confused2

Brady did that. So did Dirk. Jerry tried to play that card with the media with his comments last week, not sure if it helped.

You expect them to make good decisions 100% of the time? You think they are the only team that is not perfect with their decisions? Just look at the probowlers on this team vs other teams, they are tied for #2. Look at the players in the NFL, and who drafted them, they were ‘#1 last year. Drafting and retaining talent for this team is not their issue.

100%. Jerry is the sole reason I am no longer a fan. Coach Landry & Johnson probably get a stitch daily laughing at that douche. Unfortunately his son is also a tool so may not be a fan in this lifetime.

I would not call Stephen a tool, a rich goofy spoiled kid maybe? He will most likely be the next owner/CEO, and I got my fingers crossed he hires a GM, probably promotes McClay or hires Troy, and they install a new culture where the leader of the team is the head coach and not Jerry, which I will argue is the reason for their lack of playoff success.

I give credit to Jerry making McClay director of player personnel in 2014 letting him managing the draft, that has dramatically improved the talent on this team. Because they really sucked before that.

This for me. The cowboys were my team until they got rid of Jimmy Johnson, who made the championship team, but Jerry thought it was him. It was never Jerry and there will never be another championship with him steering.

No I would not have signed Dak to the richest contract in the NFL based on his playoff failures, I would have let him play this final year out.
If he plays great and takes us to the playoffs then continues to play great in the playoffs without his usual melt downs, then I would reward him with whatever the market is at that time, it cannot be much higher than what they gave him now.

On the flip side, if we go to the playoffs and Dak plays like Dak and crumbles under the pressure with a bad game, then I would try and sign him for what his true value would be at that time, which would be great backup QB money to which I know would never happen

Guy there comes a time when you just have to cut bait and move on from certain things.
You also bring up a great point on who can you sign that is better? Well nothing ventured nothing gained and we are certainly not gaining any super bowl rings with Dak!

Well as I have already said, JMO, there is not a right or wrong answer to sign him or not. If he plays the same or wins the SB, either way you don’t like the market price now, you surly won’t like it next year, because it will go way way up, and he may pick another team. Then you take $40m sal cap hit in dead money, you will suck for years and years until you find another QB, who knows how long it could take to land one better than Dak. If he sucks next year, you will be happy with the decision. If he plays the same, you will probably regret it and if goes all the way you will surly regret it.

Let's put it this way...he was drafted in 2016...that's 7 full seasons. If he plays like his best season of the last 7...do you feel like he can get you to the super bowl? The answer is no...

You need to take your emotions out of this and stop making decisions like a female, use logic. He's not the QB to lead a franchise to the SB, period end of that discussion. If he won't lead, then you have to have a super badass defense and you need a QB that won't cost you games...he ain't that QB either. (think Dilfer). So...it's a bad signing/deal.

Good for haters tho...cuz they gonna suck for the next 4 banana

Not singing Dak isn’t going to help you find another QB that is better. Unless your thought process is don’t sign Dak, tank next season 2025, hope to get good draft pick in 2026, and hope that rookie works out, which is very low probability he will be better than Dak.

Man you guys are big dummys when it comes to football, especially Judd. SMH.

I'm not the DA that says this team has a chance at winning or even going to the super bowl...okay rofl

It's a lot harder to find a QB when you have one...especially one you sign to big contracts. They would be MUCH better off tanking a season or two and getting a drafted first round QB than what Dak can do for this team.

But hey...I'm a football dummy who gets to see this team SUCK for another 4 years roflmao

Looks at Mathew Stafford, 12 years in, 3 playoff apparencies and lost all 3. Then goes to LA in a trade and starts winning in the post season, and wins a SB. This is an example that making a deep run in the playoffs is not all about the QB, it is about the team, and not just the players but the coaching, culture, chemistry.... It's a complicated formula and not one dimensional.

[Linked Image]

By signing Dak gives them the option to trade him. I would not mind seeing a trade like LA and Detroit, a change of scenery can be a good thing sometimes. It would be interesting to see how Dak would do with another team, a team with a head coach that has command of the locker room. Which I have been saying is the issue with Cowboys, not the QB. Heard on the radio one day a sports writer talk about the Jimmy days, he said when you were in the locker-room the players would be cutting up having fun, but when Jimmy walked in the room it went silent. That is what this team is missing, strong head coach leadership, Jerry undermines the HC leadership, that is the problem that has been haunting this team all these years, it is the missing ingredient.

He's actually played 8 full seasons, he's into season 9 now.

Judd is right for the most part.

The Cowboys have been good enough on both sides of the ball to at least make it to the NFC Championship game if they had a QB that can perform under pressure in the big games, Dak is not that QB period!

Still a Cowboy fan, just no longer an avid fan. Will not go out of my way to watch them, if I have nothing else to do I will watch the game.

Now that is clear-headed thinking. When did you take your blinders off? up

Nothing is 100% in the NFL. So yeah, they do have a chance. 50% of teams in the playoffs one season don’t make it the next season. I have no idea how the Cowboys will do this season, they could suck or they could go all the way. That’s the NFL.

So your implying that JJ makes Dak fail in the playoffs, somehow coercing him into throwing the interceptions and making those bad decisions confused2

Mathew Stafford did not have nearly the same talent level on both sides of the line that Dak has had, so not really a fair comparison
BTW when Stafford went to the Rams that had good players on both sides of the ball what happened, well I'll be danged they Won a Super bowl up

Sometimes stats do not expose all of the evidence that you have presented in this matter, they do not tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help us football experts rofl

Maybe we should ask Buzz for his expert opinion, didn't he say that he played for the Cowboys?

30 years of history confirms this. All smoke and mirrors anyway. They will probably win 9-11 games and flop in the 1st round. Just enough to sell some merchandise, pack the stands and dangle that carrot another year. Jerry will act mad, count his billions and the fans will be back to “We Dem Boyz, this is our year” this time next year.

He posts a pic of that ring several years ago and claimed he played for them. A couple of years ago he posts a pic of it said it's from a family member who worked in their office. You can decide which story is the truth for yourself but I know which one I believe.

He's not in uniform.

My daddy had connections and got me in on a practice session one year. This was '77-'78. The football was typical brown leather, but had a smooth white face for writing on. I got to go in the locker room after practice and the players signed my ball.

I no longer have the ball. I sold it early 80s. When they ran out of room on the ball, they started signing a plain sheet of notebook paper. I still have it.

Somewhat related, I was shopping at Northpark Mall one evening. This was early 90s. Walking towards me came Tom Landry. I got to shake his hand and thank him for the great years.

Yes, I'm the white short glad lad. My Dad was the Entertainment Director for them. He Started with Schram and Landry in 1960. The ring was given to him by Schram after The Pokes beat Denver in the Superdome in NOLA, 1977.

I doubt Buzz ever said he played for the Cowboys. He seems like he’s due more respect than saying he would tell a lie.

Buzz said he was a 2nd string fullback who made a crucial block on a Dorsett TD. I fell for it.

I played for the Cowboys a couple of years. God's honest truth. 2nd trumpet. When the trash Philadelphia fans sat next to us, we took hits for the team, let me tell you. I got a paycheck signed by Tex, same as the players. 'Course, it was only $45.00 a game. grin

Highest paid play in the history of the NFL gets benched. TERRIBLE...and I am a dihard Cowboy fan.

But hey, credit where credit is due, the Saints looked really, really good.
