Chased all of my hogs off!!! Now what am i going to do?? I am an avid hog hunter…make a mean breakfast sausage with them. I “live” in an area surrounded by thousands of acres of cattle ranches where nobody lives…just tend to the cattle. So…nobody really hunts but me and the occasional weekender!
I might need to make something to keep the deer out so the hogs will come back as i am running low on breakfast sausage!
There's nothing better than killin it and grillin it!
I now have 2 dedicated pig feeders that are penned with cutouts just for pigs. Yes, the occasional deer will jump in but they have no affect on the pigs coming in.

I've wondered why the hogs at my place have left. I have a feeder that is not penned. I had hogs just about every night, About nine months ago they just quit coming. Not a single picture on the camera. Nothing has changed. I'm happy about it as I now have a few deer and some turkeys showing up.
Hope the SIL starts throwing corn soon, need some hog hunting Labor Day. Noting but a yote last month. Checked the IR zero yesterday for several loads. All good but the BO Gold Dots, going too slow. CFEBLK needs to be changed to Lilgun. Maybe I'll pull some bullets.
They are not gone. All the early rain has lots of grass and foliage for them to eat and hide in. They don't need to get out of shade to stand in sun at your feeder..so they don't!

Well, other than tearing down a complete barb wire fence that I had to rebuild in 104 degrees, ruining a milo field, tearing up half a wheat field after I planted it for cattle, ripping a garden to pieces, and plowing a complete easement that I leveled with a plow, and eating all the deer corn in the feeders I don’t have pens, I agree, their no problem at all.
I think you answered your own question; I don’t know if many cattle ranchers who want pigs. I’m sure they would want them eliminated.
Hogs don't effect cattle much. Most ranchers don't like em but they really don't cause them much trouble.
I guess very specifically, you’re correct. Hogs don’t effect cattle much, very slight, but some competition for food. But not causing ranchers much trouble? Where have you been? They do have to run equipment across the ground. There s more to the beef business than a cow eating grass in a pasture. Winter hay comes from somewhere, as well as a lot of grain for feed to grow yearlings out.

The section I had to manage we fed, there was not enough rain to grow anything. Biggest issue was keeping the windmills pumping water. Yes hay comes from somewhere bit it didn't come from that section. Very little equipment other than our trucks . Lots of big hogs which never caused an issue with our barbed wire fences but they did do a lot of damage to the deer feeders. That was the problem of the hunting lease guys.
