I’ve used him several times. $80 and it’s done in about a week. Not sure if he does shoulder mounts though.

Mike, MC Taxidermy, is my go to guy. He prefers to boil skulls but can do it all. We live about a mile apart in Hurst. He heard that my mounts had arrived from an African hunt and came by to see them. I had shot one animal with a busted horn. He took it with him and brought it back after messing with it. You can’t tell that it is a repair. He’s an artist.

Decatur? You have a great one, Erick’s Taxidermy. Great work, professional, communicates well, got mine done way under schedule. I couldn’t be happier with how they captured original characteristics of my buck.

Nathan Cook with Tagged Out Taxidermy in Graham is really good. I just dropped off my son's deer with him this past Saturday. He's done multiple deer and an elk for me.

Just euro’s

I’d drive to Tagged Out Taxidermy in Graham before I’d use anyone in Dallas for shoulders

My only advice is don't let distance stop you from getting good work, reliability and confidence that you'll get your mount back. I get all my shoulder mounts done in Cypress and I'm from Louisiana. I have a bobcat in Colorado right now, been there done that on too many bad mounts for me being lazy. I great taxi close to home is gold.

Most places left in Dallas have interns/Or multiple people doing them. Consistency can be an issue. You can let it slide or stomach alittle at 350 but not over 500.

I have two I use in Texas and one in Montana.

Tagged out -Nathan Cook
TNT taxi- Taylor Horton
Eric Gould

I also hunted with Taylor and Eric

Anyone that looks at Nathan's work would be hard pressed to give him a pass. I've seen him cast actual molds from deer and antelopes mouths to recreate a specific pose the hunter wanted done from pictures. He does incredible work and his attention to detail is hardly matched.

Have used Ericks before for two antler mounts. , pleased with the work, believe that’s who Cinnamon Creek outsources some work to

Also used Clear Fork Country for a skull mount, not sure who they outsource to but the result was very nice

We've used Shumate Taxidermy for a decade in Seymour TX. They do phenomenal work at great prices.

Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

I second both of these. Both have impressed me!

Here's how he handled mine from last deer season. He saw pic's after the kill and knew he was dealing with a big, older deer. Erick went to a lot of trouble to source what he thought was the perfect form for the orientation I wanted. They also made certain to get the eyes and ears just right. This mount looked identical to the buck I shot and had my hands on that day in the field. He has a busy shop, does a huge volume of work but doesn't cut corners on quality at all. [Linked Image]

Onlysmith, Is that the same taxi that did the rackless mount I got from you? A taxi was in my house yesterday for a nontaxi reason and said the work was good. If not, who did it?

No, different taxidermist. I don't recall the name of the taxidermist that did what I gave you. He was in Mineral Wells, 2009.
