Question for anyone that's put an RV on their lease. I'm on 160 acres that has about 30 head of cattle. I bought a 30ft travel trailer that I'd like To leave on site from time to time. Will the cows wreck my camper or do I need to put up hog fencing around it? Any experience with this? Obviously I wouldn't leave a slide out or awning deployed..

I've had cattle scratch my truck while out on a lease. They were rubbing their head up against it and the tags in their ears scratched the paint and gouged the plastic on the fender well.

With that many cattle on that size acreage the answer is yes. I've had them chew up or on just about everthing. They chewed up every wire that was exposed and will rub up against the trailer to scatch an itch. They did significant damage to mine.

Had young bulls chip paint with teeth on my truck. They chewed the plastic edge of a mirror on another members truck.

They could break a water pipe. However my old lease there were about 20 left out year round for many years with little damage but there weren’t always many cattle around.

If they stary fighting by your trailer they could cause some major damage to it.

We built a 3 wire fence around our camp for this very reason.

yes, we haven't had major damage but they will rub on it. All of our little rubber covers like on the coax cable are gone and we have to check all of the insect screens every time we are there. Of course, the piles of manure in camp don't help matters either.

Some type of compound be it panels or fencing will be the best money you've ever spent!

My camper stays on the lease year round. For whatever reason, Cattle destroyed the taillight lenses on it. It has a fence around it now.

Cows can break an anvil. If it wasn’t for the fact that they are yummy, there would be a bounty on them.

We dont lease any more, but to get to y0our question, yes cattle or curious and they rub, sniff, smell at things to great lengths! they love to chew on wires, even small plumbing water lines if its accessable to them! A fence is in order if you plan to stay a while, or a quick and dirty fence is put up some simple cattle panels, yes they can be a hassle, but keeps animals at bay for a while! Install a game camera close the camper and see what comes by after you leave, you be suprised! Another option is a small solar powered fence charger, but then you keep wires up off ground and if cows get in there, they can make a mess.....
your call, good luck...

Cows scratched and chewed up my RV. I put up a two-wire electric fence that kept them out for ten years.

Cattle panels is way overkill. A single strand of solar powered electric wire will keep them out. Easy drop gate. That is all I have around my feeders and shop.

I’m wondering how the heck they’re getting 30 head of cattle on a 160 acres???😳
Yeah, my cattle can be tough on vehicles and campers, especially since I have two longhorn steers with 10’ wingspans!
Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

Well unanimous answer is Yes. Do something. Solar hot wire is easy, panels are more time consuming as well as setting posts and stretching barb wire.

I had a steer knock down my pigeon coop last week and stomp all over it. Cattle do whatever crosses their mind.

Anything substantial is a scratching post to a Cow. They will destroy ANYTHING lesser in the process of the determination.

Cows can break an anvil. If it wasn’t for the fact that they are yummy, there would be a bounty on them. This. Nothing worse than a bored animal. Horses are the worst, but cattle aren't much better. They'll jack with anything. Went to get the tractor yesterday, which has a shredder hooked up for ballast while moving round bales. There was a 500lb heifer calf standing on the shredder, sniffing the gearbox. Sheesh.
