My hunt Status went directly to “Not Selected” after the initial draws. It’s done this on every drawn hunt so far this year.

Is TPWD not doing second chance draws anymore?

I've seen alot of people ask that question. Ive noticed the webpage is different this year, so it could be some kind of program bug. Or maybe they are using the leftover permits in standby draws from now on?

I wish there was better communication and transparency with the changes and their intent for those changes. Just like now it seems you have to draw your own conclusions for why they are doing things are certain way.

I appreciated it that I didn't have to wait until afternoon to know I was rejected.

Didn't yall know that you need to pay another $3 for the 2nd chance drawing! NOT....

I emailed TPWD and they said "not selected" means no second draw will be done. I can't believe they decided that every hunt drawn so far would not have a second draw. A few of those hunts don't offer standby so you know hunt opportunities will be lost.

I was hoping the new system was putting unsuccessful applicants to not selected to keep people from contacting TPWD to ask what "pending 2nd draw" means.

It is because all the permits were paid for , on a high desired hunt the permits get paid for right then , so no second draw is needed

That stinks!!! But on the upside, hunts that allow standby should have more spots available.

I saw on another forum where someone said they were picked on 2nd draw for Alligator back on the first set of Draws so they must have had 2nd on that draw date.
If they don't do a 2nd draw for the Sept. 1st draw there could be some problems at some units with lots of permits available.
Aransas Archery usually has 40 to 60 standbys available each year, so if no 2nd Draw that could be easily 80-100 standbys or more available. That would be a big hit on permit fees at $ 130 a pop if they do not have a 2nd draw.
Yes, they would sell some standby permits, but not as many as if there is 2nd draw and standby IMO.

I'm now pending 2nd draw on everything I applied for the 15th deadline. 23 applications

Thanks DRUNK. Mine all show “not Selected” as of a couple minutes ago. Maybe they are doing the second draws and it’s just not showing up in the new system.

Why have they not drawn today?

You still have until midnight to apply for the 9/1 deadline draws. Tomorrow is a holiday, so don't be surprised if they don't draw until Tuesday anyway.
