Wondering if anyone has a hog goal for 2024.
Going for my PB this year at 7.
What about you? What’s a good year look like?

49 YTD (trapping). #50 is proving elusive; 'currently in a hog drought. 'Not complaining though.

7!! Only 7? I killed 4 when dove hunting last year in one outing and wounded about 3-4 more. Night hunting them, we'll get into a pile of them. I don't think I've ever counted, but I'd say 30-50 or so within a year would be pretty close. Here's the pic from last years' dove hunt. I killed 4 with my truck gun (10.5" 300 blk out) from about 150-200 yards out with 1x vortex Spitfire. I got 4, wounded 3-4 more limping off the field, and I went to slide lock from about 15-20 rounds in the mag. That was fun!

You need a bayonet lug in that 300 blk Got a AR10 that I’m hoping to up my numbers with this year. Gonna sound like Vietnam at my blind.

I built a feeding pen and now I couldn’t care less about them. I pop a couple of good sized sows for meat every year though. The pen has paid for itself several times in saved feed.

Between trapping and hunting the wife and I got 70+/- each year for about 3 years. Our goal was one per week, we beat that easy. We got ahead of them and the numbers dropped to 50ish, 20-30, then we left the lease, (3500 acres). The guys there now complain about pigs and claim that they shoot a few before deer season, but they're still there. They do not have a clue what it takes to get ahead of them.

I’m just trying to help people understand that they can solve their problems in a much easier way and use that time and energy to hunt deer.

I run 7 feeders on my place with no pens, not counting the dedicated pig trap feeders. For the life of me, I cannot figure how you think pigs have cost you feed. Refusing to shoot pigs makes you part of the problem. I knew a guy that grew up outside Luckenbach. Stubborn old square head, but soft. So soft he wouldn't shoot coyotes. In sheep country. Nobody, and I mean nobody, respected him.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, respected him. If you’re not intending to feed pigs and they eat your feed that is intended for deer, then they are costing you money although I doubt you would ever admit it. If you don’t put up pens, they will continue to eat the feed intended for deer and you will never win the war with pigs. Spin your wheels all you like but you could solve the problem with pens and save a lot of time and effort in the process. I kill 4-5 hundred raccoons every year by trapping them because that’s really the only way to stop them but pens absolutely stop the pigs. The downside is you wouldn’t be able to get on here and be a victim anymore. Success: Creekrunner:

What the hell are you even talking about? And thanks so much for yet another picture off your porch, of the same dam pen, at your..."ranch."

I’m cornfused about what this thread has turned into.
OP, good luck, 7 a week was slow when I was in the red river country. Glad you’re not too covered up in them.

I thought I'd found some new "victims." 'Had two sows with litters coming into the corral trap on camera. But no - last night, a young buck decided to get the trigger string caught in his horns and the rodeo began. I got there this morning and he had managed to extricate himself and was nowhere to be found. 'Didn't even break the string, just wound it around the feeder. 'Bet he needed a nap. I'm learning that when you don't have that many pigs, the deer beat them in and muck things up. The rooter door box traps are looking better and better.

Shootem Up Dusty, have fun!!!
Hogs....people who have a true hog issue should invite a bunch of people who can't afford to actually pay to shoot hogs come and shoot all they can carry.
People charging others to "hunt" hogs should be strung up. Dont complain you got a hog problem unless you treat others to shoot them.
some of y'all must need a backhoe to bury all those nasty creatures.

You dictating how/what landowners do with their own property is downright laughable actually.
