I can get 5 years but our cars are in the garage and I think both are about done but they still work. Tahoe is 250ish and mine is 175ish 5 years ago... RIP to batteries being affordable after obama killed the lead smelters. That POS has a special place in hell I hope and I hope I can sit beside him

OEM batteries suck. I had a Motorcraft die at 9 months and Toyota at 2 years. Fortunately when the Ford battery died I had 3 good batteries in the boat and was able to put 1 in truck and make it home. When the Toyota, battery died I got Auto Zones best and still strong at 5 years. Probably a good thing WalMart did not have a replacement in a group 27. Toyota batteries are different configuration then most. Dude at WalMart said they guit carrying bigger ones. I said probably the average WalMart customer only looks at price.

Called USAA roadside assistance and a 25-30 year old man comes out in his own kind of run down looking personal car, he was wearing a dirty t shirt that appeared to have been soiled from working on vehicles, same with his jeans. Usually they send someone in a company vehicle with a fairly clean uniform on so I was a bit surprised. He jumps the truck off, I thank him thinking he would leave but he just stood there for a short while? Finally he leaves and I drive off, now I am thinking he was waiting for a tip? In hindsight I wish I would have figured that out while he was there and given him $5.00 or so, after all he was driving his own ride trying to make a living and looked like he could use it. Get to Sams around 4:00 park, turn the engine off, wait about 10 seconds then started it again, barely turned over. Tell the peeps what going on, they come back and says it just needs a good charge, me well did you do it? them no our charger is broke and it is $3,800 for a new one. They say if it won't start again bring it back and they will put in a new battery for their replacement policy states that it has to be dead or have two instances of not working. I jump in the truck and it will not start, they end up replacing the battery. I got there right at 4, left at 5:45

3-5 years is most common.
There's only a couple or three manufacturers of vehicle batteries (and garage door openers) so don't believe the Voodoo people say about brands.
Get the best warranty. Convenience is also key.
One day a battery at the dealer was $100 retail and it seemed like overnight the price went to $250.
Pass the gravy.

Everstart MAXX from Walmart is my 'gold standard' the last 30 years. Always get about 7 years out of them and even 5 years when 'abused'.
It has to be the MAXX version of the Everstart - the 'plain' Everstart only last 2-3 yrs.
There are Higher-Priced batteries out there that are as good as the MAXX - Durolast Gold/Premium Interstate/ AGM, etc - but they ALWAYS cost about double- so I only get those in a pinch.

I’ve had OEM Toyota batteries regurlarly last 7 or more years. Anything off the shelf is normally about 3 to 4.

I’ve found that if you keep the terminals and especially the top of the battery clean, and make sure the water is up over the plates if not sealed, you can get an extra couple years out of a battery. I used to buy duralast gold with the seven year guarantee. I did none of the previous mentioned maintenance. I’d get a brand new one in I think it was usually around 5 years for $20 bucks or so. They changed the rules at Auto Zone on how that worked and it’s not nearly such a good deal now.

That is what I found as well I used to run them in my bass boat and on my Trolling motors and I would be on the lake at least 3 times per week, they would outlast any other brands I tried. I used to run them in all my work vehicles as well.

Some other guy on here said his Toyota battery only lasted 2 years. I have not heard of Toyota batteries being great, but would be interested to see what other toyota owners says, I am thinking about getting a new Toyota next year, would be cool if the battery is as good as the vehicles they make.

OEM Toyota batteries are Panasonic FWIW. Got 10 years out of our 4Runner OEM Panasonic. On all our vehicles, after the OEM dies, I always replace with Odyssey. Never been disappointed.

All batteries suck now. A jump pack is a must have. Absolutely. I have one in the back floorboard at all times. I believe the auto on/off is a main contributor. I recently discovered the dash button to turn that damn thing off…after almost 6 years and 2 replacement batteries. Auto on/off?? Dash button?? Yep. On my Bronco it is an A with a rounded arrow above it.

I have one of those rather small Noco Jumpers. I hadn’t used it, but the UPS diesel delivery truck died in the front of my house a while back. The driver was a nice guy, but I didn’t want to feed him and let him stay overnight. I went and got that little Noco jumper, thinking no way would this thing crank over his diesel. It fired that thing easily. I was really surprised, but it travels with the diesel Sprinter Van from now on. The trick is making sure you wait long enough for the capacitor that's in the jumper leads to reach a full charge. I suspect there are guys who fail to read the directions and end up throwing them away thinking they don't work. Mine has a LED that turns green once the capacitor is fully charged.

I had a Die Hard from Advance Auto die on me within 2 years and I got them to replace it for me for free. Had to be a little persistent, but they did replace it with no added cost. That was in 2022.
Son's truck had an Interstate from Costco that crapped out in ~1 year earlier this year. Took it out and back to Costco. No questions asked, they gave me a new one on the spot.
Wife Expedition OEM battery just went out. Basically lasted 5 years though.
I don't know who makes the "best" battery, but I will only buy from shops that honor some kind of warranty on the battery.

Newer vehicles are harder on batteries than older because they have so many electric accessories in them now. THe power steering in my sivlerado is even electric assist. Mine eats a battery in about 2-3yrs. I buy Walmart batt's in case one goes bad early, I'm never too far from a replacement.

People who believe oem batteries and tires are inferior drink way too much conspiracy theory kool aid Maybe, but it depends. I typically would see 4 years on OEM batteries on F 350’s, they would be at the 200k mile mark until 2021. We now get 2-3 years or so out of the current offerings. We run two shops with Interstate batteries, and 9 shops with Napa batteries. I can assure anyone that in our application, the Napa batteries made by East Penn/Deka will outperform the Interstates from Johnson Controls. On tires, the OEM Michelins would go 65k minimum on our trucks, the GY tires they switched to would go 25k, blow out and trash the bed. The current Bridgestones they are coming with seem better, time will tell.
