I have shot off several versions of those in Zimbabwe. Not bamboo, but some other stick. Some great...some not so great. It's an art that not everyone has the skill for.

Our sticks were always two lengths of mopane sapling and a strip of "Zimbabwe Flexible Coupling"...aka inner tube. I swear it's the Zimbo's version of duct tape!

I started with a Primos shooting stick (single) then progressed to the Monfrotto tripod and reaper rest (think cheaper tripod, I still have) then went to arca rails and Leofoto two piece carbon tripod with an Anvil 30 head but it was long to carry but way stabler, then went to Leofoto three piece tripod but lost stability of the two piece…I’m now probably where I should’ve started and that’s a RRS tripod with the anvil 30 head. It’s stupid expensive but I’d feel comfortable a LONG way out there standing up.

Unless you did it a lot hard for me to justify that cost. I’d probably just go primos tripod or mono.
