Will police be able to radar me on my bicycle?

There are two places that have a readout on sign when you drive by, and I noticed a couple of times it showed my speed, but I have tried to re create my path and the radar built into the speed signs won't do it anymore.

I have to ask….why do you care? Fastest I think I ever got going on my road bike was about 20 mph or a bit more. Which brings up the question of “How fast have you gone on a bicycle”?

I have a long down hill road I am sure I am hitting 30 mph plus range near my place the cars pass me but not very fast and they are doing 45 to 50, it about 1/2 mile stretch, They have cops down there quit a bit since it a good place to catch speeder but the speed limit is 45 mph, I was hoping someone on this site was Frisco Police and could radar me so I can see how fast I am going.

I also have a new path I am have been going on this summer and it the path take me thru a school zone and this one I am pretty sure I am going about 25 mph

I wonder if the cops would issue me a ticket for speeding on my bike?

They might on an electric but they would look stupid in front of a judge, on a non-motorized bike

The cops are pretty cool in Frisco in general, once they know you are a resident they will usually let you go with a warning for speeding, but thankfully most street are 45 to 55 mph near my house.

They start school August 12th and I have a pretty cool bike path set up, But I am concerned it will be bumper to bumper cars once summer is over.

Speedbox is a free IPhone app as well. I look at it in the boat all the time. I have also used it to see if a speedometer is off with different size tires.

There is a hill between Mt. Vernon and Winnsboro. I man I know said he has hit 60 there on a bike.

Keep track of your own speed and other cycling data.

What traffic laws are you immune from? I see riders stop for red lights, stop signs, etc.......

I was doing 27 in a 20mph zone at 14 years old and got stopped by a cop. Just reminded me that bikes have to obey the traffic laws same as motor vehicles. After that got a speedometer for the bike and who knows how accurate it was but hit 35mph with it on a flat smooth surface of a local airport I would ride when changing light bulbs along the runway. Could not keep that speed long but could hit it and on a long downhill grade country road 40 was pegged on that easily.

Metallic windbreaker like this would likely feed the radar gun.

Bikes are immune from many traffic law, it's the best of both worlds riding a bike.

I go from vehicle rules to pedestrian rules all the time while riding.

For me I bike at the crack of dawn and rarely see any vehicles, I won't get on any major streets until there is good light. I will hit residential streets and bike trails early in the mornings.

Reminds me of when I was kid.... I grew up in South Irving. Me and my buddies would ride our bikes to Taco Bell there on MacArthur and Shady Grove.
One day, as were heading home south on MacArthur towards Oakdale, I had the bright idea of trying to keep up with a car that was passing us.
As I'm peddling hard trying to keep up, the handlebars on my Huffy stripped out. As I'm trying not to chew on the front tire, I look over at the driver of the car and he's laughing his azz off.
We are just starting our decline towards Oakdale and my bike is picking up speed. My feet are in the air because I can't keep up with the peddles, and I have no brakes.
I was fine until the high speed-speed wobble!!! I hate road rash scared

It wouldn't be too bad for a short speed test. You could always get someone to pull it and tape it for you so it's as aero as possible. Or strap on some tinfull! smile

As an experienced cyclist, you know when you are obligated to vehicle or pedestrian rules. So, when under vehicle rules, are you immune from the speed limit rule?

You are the reason motorists hate cyclists. Cyclists are not immune from road laws in Texas.

That is why I am trying to get a radar gun on me so I know how fast I am going in the school zone. I go about the same speed everyday thru the same area.

I was hoping we had police officer on this forum, could position himself at the end of the school zone and let me roll thru the school zone and get a speed on me.

I bike one hour each morning and almost all my routes have me hauling arse toward the end of the ride to my subdivision, going down hill

Sure they are:

I am driving down the street and I can hop on the sidewalk and ride down the sidewalk. Cars can't do that. Bike riders can stop on the sidewalk if they want. I can go down a sidewalk and hop back on the street, I do this quit a bit on the bike trails the go near the streets.

I don't have to wear a seatbelt, or have a Driver Licenses or carry insurance, I can drink and drive if I wanted.

You may get your wish in the first few days after school starts. They work school zones pretty hard then.
