I had a Decked System in my old Tundra. Light weight and still could use p/u bed.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Short bed with a topper and decked drawer system here. Love the combo for my needs. If I need to haul something bigger, I have a trailer.

Had one in every truck that didn’t have a Topper. Many days I don’t know what all I may get into when I leave the house. I like having the tools, jacks, jumper cables, chains and binders, and assorted work tools out of the weather and with me to handle what comes up without having to track down the what I need, when I need it. When I don’t need what is in the toolbox, it is out of the way and somewhat secure without cluttering up my truck. If the time comes that I am no longer fit or nimble enough to hop up in the bed of the truck, I would consider something different. If you are the type that usually calls the man, you probably won’t use a truck box for anything more than a fashion statement.
UWS are good boxes. I own one now and have owned several. I would have no reservations about buying another if I needed a truck box.

I’ve had a box on every pickup I’ve owned This! If not, where do you put all your stuff? I have a minimum of the following. First aid kit, winter jacket, blanket and misc in a duffle. Tools, jumper cables, duct tape, tow ropes, ratchet straps, more duct tape, golf umbrella, and soft cooler. That will not fit under a seat. To each their own but I’d rather give some space to have what I believe I need or can support someone in need.

I don't know how I would function with out one. I couldn't imagine having to remember what tool, strap chain, whatever I would need for what I am planning on doing. I would either never get anything done because I was constantly going back to get something I forgot, or I would own 10 of everything because I would have to go buy whatever I forgot. They do limit space and are a PIA to get anything out of, but I couldn't imagine functioning without one.

Ain't nothing like being 65 years old and crawling up in the bed of the truck, digging through a tool box full beat up tools, jacks, chains, ropes just to get to the tow strap that is at the bottom. Then you discover that quart of oil in there sprung a leak and the tow strap is saturated in it.

I have to have one. A guy needs things. Weather Guard, built like a brick house. Mine sits below bed level, on the bed floor. Like this one:

Nope. Takes up too much bed space and I don't like the look. I keep all my stuff under the back seat. I’ve had a box on every pickup I’ve owned This! If not, where do you put all your stuff? Tools, jumper cables, duct tape, tow ropes, ratchet straps, more duct tape, golf umbrella, and soft cooler. That will not fit under a seat. To each their own but I’d rather give some space to have what I believe I need or can support someone in need. I carry more than that and it fits under my seat.
Pass the gravy.

The older you get, the bigger PITA it is to find something in it. I haven't had one in years, but we sold them (RKI) in our business. They are handy, especially for trailer tie-downs, jack, etc.
8' bed is best though. Just get a big tote to hold all that crap you will never need
