So you are going to tell me, right here in the public forum for everyone to see, that the FBI does not visit current FFL holders that are still in business, and scan and keep records of transfers? I really don’t care what type of law enforcement experience you have or how to try to explain it, the FBI today in 2024 does this.
I don’t have a foil hat.
It’s not a conspiracy.
ntxtrapper it's the ATF that usually visits FFLs right? Just for inspection etc? I personally know they don't scan and keep records as stated above. There's FFLs on here who would know this as well. I believe 10 Gauge gets a little carried away sometimes, bless his heart. Yes. It’s IOI who conducts inspections. In this case the gun was purchased in 2013, the store went out of business, so the 4473 was sent to the National Tracing Center. I assume he’s read something about the process from a birds aren’t real, flat earth type person and for whatever reason, believes that, rather than information from someone who knows about it from actual experience.

The 4473 stays with the licensee. Currently, the ATF now requires that FFLs keep the 4473 for as long as the FFL is in business and licensed.
FFLs that are in business longer than 20 years, allows for records that are 20 years old to be stored off-site in a warehouse.
If they lose their FFL, see my previous post.
This is correct. You guys really think they don’t keep a record? You really think the FBI does not have records of every background check submitted for 20 years? They literally visit FFL holders to update the FBI database with the forms. They keep track of all the transfers. How else do they track a transfer down in 1 minute? We had eTrace on our desktops. I know how it works. The serial number isn’t provided on a NIC with the FBI. IOI conducts compliance inspections at the premises of licensees. They don’t bring a scanner and electronically load 4473’s. I have been present for plenty of inspections. In this case the dealer that sold dad the AR went out of business so the forms were sent to the NTC so it was immediately available on eTrace. If the dealer had still been in business, it would have been a long involved process starting with the wholesaler who purchased it from the manufacturer. I don’t know where you are getting your information from but it’s not correct. He's a truck driver with down time to read things on the internet. Therefore, he has more knowledge on the subject than you have gained from real world work in the field, formal training and years of experience.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Records are being kept of every single transfer that is through a dealer, either by or on the behalf of the government. “Up to 20 years.” But you mock me instead of conceding the absolute 100% truth that the government has these records one way or the other. And i learned this much from you just now, NTX. If I had left it at “the government” instead of saying “FBI”, then every single thing I posted about this would have been spot on. And if they want that information from the dealer they will have it PDQ or ruin his life. The Bible does not say the earth is flat. I know birds are real because they are so good to eat. I am not a loon. It’s normal for people to revert to teasing or mocking folks when they are wrong but refuse to concede.

NICS check, the FBI hears "long gun" or "hand gun" from the FFL.
That's all they know when a check is performed.

Delusional? No. I don't trust any of the 3 letter agencies either, and I do 100% believe that they are corrupt. But, you are wrong on the fact that every single firearm transaction has a record kept by the government. Can they find the distributor through the manufacturer, and then use that info to find the dealer where they can look up the original purchaser? Yes. Do they have this all in a database at Langley? No. Not unless the dealer went out of business...in which case they probably do have it at Langley.

Worse then a facebook fact check. I am “technically” wrong, but the whole purpose of this convoluted system is to maintain records for 20 years. The records of legal transfers to law abiding citizens should be immediately destroyed at the completion of the sale. And why aren’t they arresting unqualified people for trying to buy guns? They just walk away.

I thought the dad bought the gun 6 months ago. Did the gun store already go out of business? [/quote]
I guess it all depends on who you listen to, the word I got was the rifle was purchased 10-11 years ago, who knows, obviously we aren't going to hear the truth for a long time, if ever.

Follow the money...Turns out $DJT short positions doubled from 7m to 15m shares between July 1-12, setting an all time high for shorts since $DJT trading debut. Someone was banking that Trump would be dead when the markets opened on Monday... Brings to mind the shooter's BlackRock video... I posted this initially because it was reported Austin Private Wealth placed what seemed to be a historic and extreme 12,000,000 share short bet which should have raised red flags for a number of reasons. Their filing is now being reported as an error and amended to show only 12 contracts or 1,200 shares - not 12 million shares / 16 percent of float, as initially reported. They said a multiplier was applied by a third party vendor that increased the number of shares by a multiple of 10,000 for all option contracts in their SEC filings, not just $DJT.
