Whole thing stinks. How was this goober able to accomplish such a feat. Pretty amazing he got his first shot off with such accuracy, he didn’t miss by much. It takes some skill to get that close and he doesn’t strike me as someone who is a skilled shooter, especially at 100 plus yards. Was the gun he used scoped? Especially with people pointing him out to security?

Only question did this happen because of incompetence or because they let it happen. FWIW I worked with a lot of secret service agents and every single one of them spoke of the republican protectees as being kind, considerate, thoughtful people. They said the same as trapper said. One night we were at a friends restaurant bar and two guys started fighting. We all broke it up and they wanted to take the guys out back and let them finish their argument.  My son got to tour Air Force One that is my son on the left. Got lots of souvenirs from the plane also.

Only seen blurry pictures of the assassin's rifle. Did it have a bi-pod?
I know everyone on here could make the shot without any front or rear support.
But in real life, its a hard shot especially shooting at a human target not a hunk of steel.
Shooter pointed his rifle at the cop, cop got outta there ASAP
This hurried the shooter into shooting fast.

Two comments and I'm not a fan of DEI. One - adrenalin attack, you have any problem holstering? Two - they train for 'events' but when it really happens, much different reactions. USSS has always had problems. According to Dallas retired USSS boss, they have a plan - sometimes not a good one? Obviously shooter had a plan, not spur of the moment deal. Amateur assailant fooled everybody. Didn't make or was eliminated from rifle team for poor shooting skill? Good enough for a 150 yr shot!

My concluding comments on this:
1) This is not a “sign of the times” bla bla, this is just a crazy person that did this. There are plenty more just like him out there, and as this population grows, we get more crazy people, simple math really. They are ticking time bombs ready to explode given the right enabling environment, as in the case here, a failed security environment, which leads to my second comment.
2) Security failed big time here, at the top it failed. They knew way ahead of time before the crazy guy pulled the trigger, but they fiddled and farted around with it, it is almost like the guy at the top said “don’t fire unless fired upon”. People saw him climbing up on the roof with a rifle and told security, and they acted lost. Security guy climbed up on roof and saw him before he pulled the trigger, did nothing. Snipers saw him before he pulled the trigger, did nothing, the guy was seen walking around from roof top to roof top, picking the best spot. Who was head of security on this? The guy in charge in command calling the shots? He did such a bad job you have to wonder if it was intentional. It took them hours after the shooting to call it a shooting, they were calling it an "incident". From the beginning it was obvious it was a shooting, and where the shots came from.
The good news is crazy guy is dead, and he only killed one person. Had security done their jobs and not “enabled this”, he would still be alive, still ticking to explode another day.

Everyone on this forum, that shoots regularly, could make that shot with no problem. I remember, with the same old bolt action Oswald used to kill Kennedy; I would rapid fire(goofing off) at 100 yards and hitting a tennis ball was no big feat.

The feds are blaming local law enforcement this morning for being responsible for the building from where the shots were fired, that dog won't hunt, the SS is responsible for the entire event and the advance team should have had someone placed on that particular roof if for nothing more than observation. As soon as the team arrived, they would have known without a single doubt that the shooter location was a threat to any security of the location.

SS is in panic mode, I wouldn’t believe anything from Washington
Bottom line, every roof and threat is their responsibility. Especially the closest roof.
Ensuring those spaces are covered is their responsibility.

Everyone on this forum, that shoots regularly, could make that shot with no problem. He was a 20 year old snot nosed kid. Good thing this was not a real hit man.

I'm still confused about the grandstand set up. Where in the stands were the people sitting who were shot? One was hit in the head, one in the torso and the young man was grazed on his neck. From some of the wide angle video I have seen there was 3 sets of bleachers. Left, right, and center stage. One diagram I saw showed one victim was in the bleachers to the left of the stage but not sure how accurate that was. I would have thought the bleachers to the right of the stage would have been the ones more in the line of fire. In some of the video you can see what looks like blood soaked clothing or something in the bleachers to the left of the stage though. I would be surprised if anyone in the center stage bleachers were hit though. Yes, I finally saw a drone shot of the stage and surrounding Stands. The shooter must have pulled low and hit the guy in the back of the head and the others I saw a report yesterday that a LEO climbed the ladder and saw the shooter, the shooter pointed his rifle at the LEO, the LEO went back down, dropping to the ground, I only seen this report once? Saw that too. A lot of questions about security here. I'm sure we'll get a clear picture of what happened when the investigation is complete and made public. The media is also reporting that the shooter was rejected from his school rifle team because of poor marksmanship. That would explain a bit of this.

I'm no sniper, but if I were I wouldn't use the single point of support pod that we keep seeing on the roof. And the spotter next to him (if that is what he was assigned to do) is in an awkward, balled up position. Is it known if either of these two put the kill shot on the shooter?
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

If this had been a Biden event the Secret Service would have done their job securing the area, like they typically do.
Trump is lucky the snot nosed kid didn't go for a body shot. Trump might have lived through that, but would be out of the election.

Based on the evidence so far and looking at the google earth view of where the shooter was I think he was the patsy lured there by convincing him he was part of the security team. How else would he get that close and be seen climbing up the building with his rifle in broad daylight?

I thought I saw somewhere that a SS sniper shot him from 488 yards. If you believe any of these reports.
I just don’t think tripod guy shot him. Just my opinion. Tripod guy pulled the trigger but there is no way he hit him. He was probably closer to shooting a bystander than the intended target.
