You can over analyze suppressors to death. I know I did before I finally just bought one. I have 4 and haven't regretted the purchase of any of them. They make shooting so much more enjoyable.

Heres a screenshot of my invoice from silencer central
**Note: I got a voucher for a discount and a free trust from a charity event we attended last year with ducks unlimited.

You're still looking at putting out $1100 for a $800 can, theres always an extra $50-200 in other things that are needed for the process. (fingerprints, passport photos, trust, etc)

Right now I'm looking at the Q Trash Panda, the Q Thunder Chicken and the Scythe. This is going to sound dumb because I'm new to this, but if those are all .30 cal cans, can I interchange them between the BO and .556 and so on up to 300WM?

If they're rated for 300WM, but for sure on the 300BLK and 5.56. Some suppressors also have barrel restrictions normally about 8" on 300BLK and 10" on 5.56.

I'm intrigued by the Scythe now. I remember Jason talking to me about it last time I was out at his place but reading all the specs that thing looks really nice. I'll probably be grabbing one in the next few days.

I'm brand new to this as well. I have horrible Tinnitus. So, with these specs from this suppressor I would still need hearing protection with a 5.56 correct?
https://silencerco.com/silencers/scythe-ti/

Muzzle Average 5.56 NATO: 128.9 dB, 300 BLK: 118.6 dB, 308 WIN: 132.6 dB
300 WM: 137.2 dB

I have tinnitus as well, and what I notice when shooting is that it's not the volume of noise, but the tone. Some cartridges set me off more than others even at the same decibel range. That tells me it's not so much the powder charge but the sonic crack that hurts me. The tone of the crack will depend on speed, weight, and aero design of the projectile. But using a suppressor on any of my guns helps overall. I use hearing protection at the range even when suppressed but I rifle hunt without any HP, knowing that it's likely to be only one shot.

I know you are living the Heavy YHM life but the Scythe seems incredible. I’d love to shoot it side by side with the resonator to make sure the sound performance is as impressive.

Haha yea ole 8.5" 2 pounder sucker is a tank!

I might wait for Jason to get his Scythe and go shoot it side by side with my Phantom. If it is as quiet or quieter I'll definitely be buying one. At just a little over 6" and 7oz it'll feel like nothing to me hanging out front.

My Resonator R2 was one of my first suppressors. Bought it about 2 years ago, took 307 days to get. Runs great on .300 BLK AR15's, bolt action .300 BLK and .308. Comes with a QD muzzle device. Was $600

I also have a Diligent Defense Enticer L. It's just a little longer than the R2. Supposed to be quieter at the muzzle, but I can't tell the difference at my ear. It comes with a titanium 5/8-24 Direct thread and was $550

My 3rd .30 cal suppressor is a Rex Silentium MG7 .308. It's a short "K" can that's only 5.5" long. I've only shot it on the bolt action .300 BLK. It's louder than the other two with supersonics, pretty close with sub sonics. I only paid $380 for it and got a BOGO .22 LR suppressor for free with it. Just had to pay tax stamp. But that special was over a couple months ago.

Yes. Speaking from experience, I would go with the shorter Trash Panda.

A lot depends on how you use your guns. I do a lot of stalking and at times shoot unsupported, so overall weight is the most important factor to me. I like a titanium can because it is the lightest material. The drawback on titanium is it can't handle heat as well so you are limited to maybe 5 shots in quick succession before letting it cool.

If you have bipods on your rifle the weight is not nearly as big of an issue. For this you could go with SS or inconel materials that can handle the heat better and allow for full auto ammo dumps.

Regarding the decibel levels - 140 dB is considered the threshold for pain. Hearing loss can occur at much lower levels, depending on the length of time exposed and the tone/pitch. I normally don't wear hearing protection when hunting as it is usually 1 or 2 shots at a time. If I am at the range I still wear plugs and/or muffs. Especially if there is a roof or walls on the shooting station, I'll wear double protection.

Good information in here.
There is so much info and some seems contradictory that I get confused.

I want a can that will work on my .308 SBR 12” and also on my 6.5 creedmoor, 7mm PRC, etc. I know all have a minimum barrel length but it’s hard to find on some and easy on others.

Anyone have experience with a suppressor that is rated for a 12” barrel?

Not as light as some mentioned here but the YHM resonator is good for 10.5” in .308 full auto.

Check silencer shop their website seems to have most of the info on popular suppressors.

I like my Trash Panda. I also agonized over choosing the right suppressor. Weight played a big factor in my decision, as I was going to use the can on a short barreled rifle and also a pistol. Been super happy so far. My 10” .300 Blackout is no louder than a .22 LR to my ears. Very interested in some of the others mentioned above, as I will be buying another one eventually.

For my bolt gun I would prefer a direct thread on and a very light suppressor (Titanium) ( I dont have by the way) but on my AR's the quick detach is the way to go especially when switching from rifle to rifle. I have a heavy suppressor but it doesnt feel heavy at all on my AR but the extra weight feels like a brick on my bolt gun.

You might call AB and specifically ask about AB raptor. website say 16” on 7.62 but I think that’s with out the reflex. Reflex goes back over the barrel and adds a lot of volume capacity

I have the Dead Air Nomad Lt for my 6.5 PRC. I would think for what you are looking for, the Dead Air Nomad would be a good fit.

I got one a couple of months ago. I’ve only shot it on a 13.7” 5.56 and a 14.5 5.45x39 so far. Here’s the spec sheet

I've been eyeing the B&T SRBS762-DM Titanium that Silencer Shop sells. Apparently new to US market as a brand but not new to Europe or to the US as a manufacturer.

Specs and reviews look great. Less than 10 oz on a flow thru 7.4" can, 1.7" in diameter.

I've got a 7" barrel .556 that is tough to find a suppressor for too. Not sure if the rating is due to the pressure on the internal baffles, or the mount.
