Happy Mondee y'all. Just got a thermal, now looking into getting a suppressor so wanting y'alls input. Would like a versatile one that can go on both my .556 and 300BO but I'm brand new to these. Seen turnaround times aren't nearly as bad as they once were but each person is different. Want to get one that isn't going to break the bank (Probably around $800-$1k.) What brands/ones would y'all recommend? I've seen some with a quick attach and some without. Educate me please THF.

Money was not a factor. I look at size, weight, decibel reduction.

Resonator R2 performs well above its price point. It does weigh 16oz but with as heavy as my rifles are I only notice it being that heavy. Would cost double to save a few ounces with one of the titanium ones.

Just make sure it’s rated for 300 Win Mag, titanium and a quality brand. After that work through weight, size and such.

My first suppressor, back in 2012, was a YHM Phantom 5.56, I wish i spent the extra cash and got a .30 cal can instead - I used to work at a indoor range in college, wish i just got what i wanted, but funds were limited during that time.
Eventually got into some other NFA items over the years, but recently just did my most recent suppressor through Silencer Central, nice company but will probably not go through them again - poor customer service and not the smartest group of people to deal with. Got the runaround from them for a little while, fingerprint card issues, got delivered the wrong mount - they sent me a thread adapter for a completely different suppressor, then gave me a hard time about asking for the correct part, and communication - its terrible.

For a do it all can, i would look into huxwrx for a good over all .30 can to handle it all

e-form turnaround times for individual buyers are blazing fast - have seen some approved in less than 12 hours. But e-forms for trusts or companies are still taking several months.

Everyone is going to tell you the can they are using and tell you it's the best. I'm not going to do that but instead I'll give you my point of view so you can make your own decisions.

The suppressor db is a volume game...meaning typically (there are few outliers but not many) the longest and fattest can will be quietest.
Length is a personal preference and one thing I can tell you...I never owned a 16" rifle until I started playing with suppressors. Now my longest rifle I use regularly (magnum) is 22" because the extra length the suppressor gives is a PIA on anything longer. 20" seems to be a sweet spot but I do really like the 16" for in a blind.
Weight SUCKS both on a rifle and especially on a can...you couldn't give me a can that weighs over 11-12oz...today there is zero reason to own one heavier and WAY to many options under 10oz now.

Good luck...for me the 6-7" cans seem to be a happy spot and the fatter the better (back to that volume thing).

If you're planning on running it primarily on AR/gas guns, I'd go with something that has low back pressure. That'll help keep from getting a lot of gas in your face. Next would be volume, not the short fat thing, volume as in how fast you will be shooting rounds though it. High volume, you'll want something durable like a Dead Air Sandman S. Low volume shooting, I'd suggest lightweight high internal volume. Yes, the short fat ones! lol Look into flow through suppressors, they're made for low back pressure and help keep gas out of your face. Do you want a muzzle device or direct thread? Direct thread suppressors tend to be lighter over suppressors with muzzle devices. Suppressors with muzzle devices are easy to remove/install but can have erratic POI shifts on older systems. Newer styles are much better in this regard. For my bolt guns I prefer light weight direct thread.

You can have same decimal at the ear but a completely different tone, so there is a large disparity via personal choice.

My last trust was 3 months.

If you only want one my biggest advice is try not to just get a 223 specific suppressor jump up to a 7.62MM, because you will want one for all your rifles.

I have AB Raptor 8 w/3” reflex, same decimal as Scythe But a little lower tone due to more volume with reflex. Haven’t shot it with out reflex yet next to scythe but I will shortly

I have a Q Trash Panda. It’s titanium and has a Cherry Bomb Tapered mount. Comes with 2 Cherry Bombs one for 1/2 thread and another for 5/8. Titanium is the way to go for weight.

I'm brand new to this as well. I have horrible Tinnitus. So, with these specs from this suppressor I would still need hearing protection with a 5.56 correct?

Bolt gun you would probably be alright, but assuming an AR or similar it won’t be pleasant at the ear.

Think 140dB is what OSHA says causes hear loss.

You still need to wear earring protection for all suppressors regardless, difference is you can go with light foam or even ear buds, vs heavy ear muffs

When shooting with a 5.56 AR you can use a bleed off gas block like Superlative Arms. With the Superlative you can run in the restrictive mode or the bleed off mode. Either one sounds about the same out in front of it. However, in the bleed off mode it sounds quieter at the ejection port, and to the shooters ear.

Question: How much can you use one before a cleaning? I've heard that cleaning is a fairly complex job. I also assume that would depend on cleanliness of the ammo, but just curious how often they need cleaning.

I’ve had my YHM phantom for a little over a decade with thousands of rounds through it and have never cleaned it. Especially using it on an 10.5” 556 the concussion blows all the stuff out. If you really just want to clean it you can just submerge it in ultrasonic cleaner and let it do the work.

There’s too many variables here to make that determination without hearing it first hand. And by hearing it, I mean actually shooting the gun vs standing to the side or behind it.

For instance, my SiCo Omega 30 from my 18 inch 308 is very pleasant, my 16 223 is very pleasant, my 18 inch 6.5 Grendel hurts my ears and is the slowest of the 3. All of these are from AR platforms.

For that budget, Otter Creek Labs would be my pick.

I'm a diehard Thunderbeast fan, but several friends of mine speak highly of the polonium and polonium k. I'm thinking trying one soon.

My question is, $800-1000 is that walking out the door after state and federal tax? An $800 suppressor will run you just shy of $1100 after state and federal taxes. That’s not including transfer fees if they’re charge by the FFL.

I run a Dead Air Nomad-L and have been thoroughly impressed with the sound reduction but it is a larger can. With the KeyMo it’s about a foot long.

$800-1000 would just be for the suppressor. Does anyone have any on hand experience with the Q Thunderchicken?

Get one that has multiple choices in mounting. Scythe or Nomad would be my first choices
