This is a good read about Birch management Inc, that owned the Baby Dolls and a lot of other clubs.
I knew a few of these folks.

In Dallas the protection game comes from the politicians. You either break off 15k to 25k per month to whomever is the rep for that district or the PD starts around the clock dwi checks against your patrons. Caligulas which was right up the street burned down in late '99 right after they lost their protection that Al Lipscomb had been giving them for years. Caligulas paid a cab company owner $8,500 per month who then turned around and gave it to Al Lipscomb as a gift. This isn't speculation either, this is what Al Lipscomb's Federal indictment said and what he plead guilty to. Baby dolls was pretty well established, extraordinarily so. In all likelihood this was simply an accidental fire and it will be rebuilt soon.

I've never really understood the Bible Thumpers vehement opposition to places like this. It's like they're terrified that they can't drive by one without getting sucked into it. You don't see atheist protesting the location of churches. People that frequent these kind of establishments even call them Church. When baby dolls was in its old location they had protest and people calling to get them shut down for decades. They finally had their liquor license pulled and in its last few months Duncan Birch who owns the place said we're not closing for 9 more months until our new location is done and he did free alcohol for anyone that walked in the door until the new location opened.

I think the opposition comes from the lifestyle and what usually is a by-product of places like these: Drugs, Prostitution, trafficking, Drinking and Driving, poor financial choices, etc.

It's not like what's portrayed on T.V. where everything is upscale, both the clients and the employees are classy, etc. Majority of them are dives.

And if a person is calling a Strip Club their Church, well, that poor soul is severely lost.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

You must be talking about the Dallas location of Baby Dolls, Caligulas was in Dallas as I remember off NW Highway, and Al Libsomb was Dallas.

I think this one may of been in Euless of 157 I think in Tarrant County, it was kinda in a odd area from what I can remember.

I went there a few times. Pretty wild. Not a place to frequent, if you want to stay out of trouble.

I've always believed that Christian should embrace all of these things because without sin there can not be forgiveness from that vengeful God that keeps track of everything that you do and holds it against you forever like a psychotic girlfriend/wife does.

Never cared much for those places myself but I respect other people's right to choose to do as they see fit. I own a duplex off of Webb Chapel and have been renting almost exclusively to dancers for the better part of 30 years. I have heard or seen it all.

You know that you can only catch that once don't you? It also isn't the building, it's the people on both sides of the transaction.

Great read. My buddy worked for Mike Murphy and later bought Don's Showtime from them, he later was part owner in The "Cowboys" Dance Halls. The one near White Rock Lake as mentioned in this story.

Some people don't realize how small our world can get. We had some guys from here that went to the Million Dollar Saloon one night and a local girl from here was on stage. The younger brother of a friend of mine from here probably 30+ years ago bumped shoulders with a local school Superintendent in an Austin strip club door entry. This guy looked at the Super and said, "Small world ain't it......." roflmao

Most are either dopeheads or mentally ill, or offering sex after work.

Why can’t they be all three.

No experience, it's a line from the movie called "The Dictator" when he was discussing going to an after-party hosted by Christina Aguilera.

Back when I would go hoe about I would pre-game with acyclovir just in case.

If people were more intolerant of bad behavior as a whole we wouldn’t be in the shape we are in.

Like how the people on the left are completely intolerant of any views except for their own?

Yep, great idea. Who exactly gets to decide what is bad behavior and what isn't when dealing with an issue that is completely subjective? A militant lesbian? A Mormon missionary? A priest? A politician? A Satanist? An atheist? A pedo serving a life sentence? Last I recall King Solomon hasn't been with us for quite a few years.

Your rights and my rights end when they cross the line into another person's rights. You have to tolerate them the same way they tolerate you.

I get your trying to defend an argument that you created. Most people know right from wrong, but we have been conditioned over the last 20 years as a society that if a person, place or thing gives you the ick, then YOU are the problem, not the person, place or thing.

What is bad is being called good, and what is being called good, is bad. So it has been written and we are living in a day and age where that is 100% the case. But since you want to play devils advocate and argue trivial points, what is exactly a persons rights as it pertains to this subject? I have a right to rally against these establishments, yet you are trying to paint me like I'm in the wrong for being against them

I'm not some nerd who grew up in a sheltered suburb far away from harm. I've been in plenty of shady situations with shady individuals. Been in my share of Gentleman's clubs as well. And I'll speak out against those kinds of places because I've seen what they produce. There is a reason why a former PD made this thread.

If we stopped tolerating bad or harmful behavior, then we would have less of it. Its pretty simple.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. You simply are not permitted to force your morality on to others using the color of law. The left is trying to force their version of morality and I don't like that either.

I don't drink and have seen the harm that alcohol causes. Probably a whole lot more harm than a topless bar/bars causes if I had to guess but you do noy see me wanting to make the consumption of it illegal again. My wife drinks and I have never told her not to even though I know that it is harmful.

Who has a good stripper story to share (that's shareable on here)?

I got in the corporate world at the tail end of when you could expense that sort of thing with clients around the 1990s. That was an interesting time is all I have to say. But here are a couple of stories:

1. Got kicked in the head and knocked out by a stripper wearing big platform shoes, swinging around a pole right next to my table at a place in Timmons, Ontario. Was provided some free beers.

2. Was at a hotel in Fort McMurray, Alberta in February, sitting at your typical hotel bar, when this lady shows up and proceeds to do her act for about an hour.

3. Sometime around my late 20s the company I worked for hired a rather nice looking temp for a few months. Found out a few weeks after she left that she was working/stripping at a place in Arlington. Of course I went to see.

Where in anything I wrote did I suggest making anything illegal or using law to force my opinions and beliefs?

I did a bar check on one and did the old light from the bottom of the bottle trick. All their liquor was buggy with fruit flies. I gave him the option of pouring it all out or a 500 dollar fine for each bottle. He poured out about 20-30 grand of liquor. That was a nasty place. All the unsuspecting customers drinking buggy liquor barf

I'd be wiling to wager there were more bugs there than just in the bottles.

You didn't. I was speaking in broad strokes about the people who were/are. I remember the nut jobs that tried for 20 plus years to get the old Baby Dolls shut down. They would roam the neighborhoods within a few miles of the place trying to get petitions signed. I wasn't a patron of the place but I wasn't opposed to it being open.

They have pour spouts. Responsible bar operators have little rubber caps that fit on the top of the spouts.

I’ve been in a lot of booby bars and never saw one with proper lighting turned on until after the shooting.

All the unsuspecting customers drinking buggy liquor barf

Good lord! What bar had 30k of open liquor?

They kept several open of the same type so they could have multiple people mixing on busy nights. Figure in the different types and it adds up quick.

I have a decent one from that very establishment. 20ish years ago my roommate and I were broke and took $40 each to have some fun. We were/are both big guys. At the time I was 6'2" around 300lbs and he was 6'3" 260. This older guy behind us was just throwing money around like it was no big deal and asked us if we were football players. We laughed and said not in a while. He invited us over and started ordering rounds of drinks paying for lap dances etc. Best I can remember his name was Lyle Lebeau claimed he played at LSU way back when said he had a big lake house out on Eagle Mountain. He must have dropped $500 on us and then when we all left he got picked up by a limo.

How in the heck do you get bugs in a bottle of booze?

If you are ever in a bar before they open, most will have all the open bottles covered. Some use those conical water cups. many restaurants have a fruit fly problem.

Don't know what god you pissed off to be in a strip bar in either of those two places. Either that or you were working in the resource sector (Timmins = gold, Fort Mack = oil) for serious financial compensation. Can just imagine being kicked in the head by a mid 40s overweight toothless local. Hunted and fished in both those places and even ice fished both those places - but never stayed in town - sleep in the snowmobile trailer with a cot, heater and CO dectector before that happens.

I took a bunch of Hanover mechanics to the [censored] bar in Tyler every year. I did all the repair work in north Louisana for their company. They had a meeting once a year in Tyler. They talked about the dancers all year.

My small wife was 8 months pregnant with a 10lb baby and said she’d pick us up at closing time. This little mechanic got into a fight with one of the bouncers like he did every year. She pulled up to get us when I was smashing one of the bouncers head with my forearm. Extracting the little coon arse customer from his grip. That wast the last time I took all of them out at the yearly meeting.

I've been to Timmons and Sudbury a number of times related to the mining industry but on the separation side working with local reps selling/promoting process automation stuff. Have been fewer times to Fort Mack, but in the tar sands because handling such materials is similar to mining.

Other places: Yellowknife in Northwest Territories, Thompson in Manitoba, Wabush in Labrador and all sorts of other places in Canada.

Once I flew back in January from Wabush connecting back to Dallas/Fort Worth and finally got home about noon on a Saturday. Made a wardrobe change, repacked and left that afternoon to fly through Miami to Manaus, Brazil on the Amazon. That was from like -40C to +40C with high humidity.

Well you seen more of the arsehole of this country then most canucks. Hopefully you were able to least get some fishing in on some of those trips. Once a few miles out of those towns it changes from arsehole to God's country. In fact Timmins is only about 2 hours from my wilderness lakehouse/retreat.

Been in all those towns too. Not typically hunting and fishing related though. Make a ton of money building water treatment plants for the mining sector. Get in good with a few of the big boys and they really don't care what you charge as long as the plant works and opens on time. Make like 200 to 300% mark up on those jobs - just gotta jump when they say and get it done when they need - if you can do that they don't shop around they just give you the work. My couple million is pocket change to them on a 5 billion $ project.

I have travelled/worked those parts of the country since 1992 - so who knows maybe even crossed paths at a local watering hole - not a strip bar though. Met more then a few Americans at those places and even some from Texas.

Not terribly entertaining but in 1996 I was in San Antonio for a bachelor party. One of the places we popped into had about 1/2 the Chicago Bulls in attendance and they appeared to be throwing big bucks around. Got to piss next to Tony Kukoc and Scottie Pippen. Unreal how tall those Cats are. Believe they won the championship that year a well.

Last time I was in there was the late 90's.

I was sitting there drinking a beer and these 2 rough looking dudes and one of the ugliest women I have ever seen walked in and sat at a table, I jokingly said to myself, If she gets up there I am out of here. Well, she did so I got the hell out of there. Never been back.

Went to Augusta Georgia many moons ago with a buddy visiting a mutual friend to play golf, we got rained out one day so he took us to a dive nude bar.
The women were so ugly barf we wanted to pay them to put their clothes back on!

I heard the go go joint named The Corn Patch outside of Aransas pass was interesting. I understand "show girls" would show up in white boots.

Better not even bring up anything about the Leopard Street go go joints.

I. C. Shakers on E Lancaster was the worst one I ever went in. The dancer was about 8 months pregnant and there was a Harley Davidson completely disassembled on the pool table.

1989-93 or so found me hosting meetings for colleagues from all over the country at one of the Hotels on 635, Dallas. We always had an extra room on the floor we used as a hospitality room. We'd set up a poker table, have plenty of booze and food in there. Always a great time. I'd always ask the group what they wanted to do before the meetings for evening entertainment. Without fail, always, 100% of the time I got requests to take the group to The Cabaret Royale. I never suggested it, but this place had a coast to coast reputation. This was way back, and no kidding there would be at least 10 or so of the girls that could have been Playboy Centerfolds. High Quality eye appeal in every way. Not skanky at all, weeknights always packed with groups of professional people as patrons from all over the country. Being obligated to make the group happy, one night each meeting we would go. The absolute best times were when we had women in our group. There is no better party time than taking 30 sumthin' year old women to a high brow ti--- bar.

The late 80s to late 90s were the golden era of topless bars in Dallas. I knew gals in that era that would only work a few nights per month and typically made about 15k a month and sometime a whole lot more. Companies still allowed their salesman to bring clients out for that kind of fun back then and 30k tabs were common place. I dated a gal that worked at Cabarat that was as hot as a firecracker. Her fun bags were the only ones seen in the movie JFK. She was troubled but is in her late 50s now and still has her looks and she still turns heads when she goes into a room.

These guys had $$$ and didn't mind spending it. Great times. There would be 20-30 dancers. All were gorgeous, and like I said 1/2 could have been in Playboy. Those, you had to tip a waitress to get them from other groups and bring them over.

Golden Era of topless bars........I love this quote from one of my favorite Presidents, George H. Bush, "You never realize that the events going in your life right now will someday be symbolic of an era". I am so glad I was a part of those events.

In the mid 1980's I had two buddies with girlfriends working at Cabaret, they were servers, not dancers, didn't have the face or body back then to do that, they were somehow finding the drunk guys and running crazy high tab on their credit cards, I guess they got some kind of commission on sales, not sure how that worked.
