I carried a P7 in a galco shoulder holster for years. I still carry a g17 or HiPower whenever I can wear a jacket.

I have a reproduction US Army M3 holster for my reproduction 1911A1, it's handy for woods carry. I keep a few extra magazines in a mag pouch on the strap. it fastens to your belt so pretty secure. It's the same holster model my grandfather wore when flying B-24s. Bought a similar (not a direct reproduction, more modern) one for a family member and a couple years later I saw it for sale by him on eBay.

Thanks for all the info. I am going to take a look at some of the holster models mentioned here and see if they would be a viable option for certain situations.
