You're a bad influence! I placed an order to start the process of building myself a 300 Ham'r, and the order arrived in two days. Thats was so fast I placed another order tonight!

HAM'R in S Africa now, results from my first day. Warthog shot from 75yds full penetration through both shoulders, ran 7yds. Wildebeest shot from 70yds, no exit, ran 20yds. Both with the Lehigh 125gr Tipped Controlled Chaos. 11 more hunting days to go.

I killed my best ever Kudu bull (55") yesterday at last possible shooting light. He was quartering away and I misjudged the angle some and hit him a little too far back and he ran a solid 100yds downhill in thick cover. It took us an hour to find him and pack him out in two pieces. The base of the 300 HAM'R 125gr Tipped Controlled Chaos did its job and penetrated deep into his lungs for a good blood trail once he started bleeding.

Wow! That is a fantastic Kudu! Any idea on his age? Great job with the HAM'R, the little engine that could (can).

He was a very old bull, probably 9-10

Overall a pretty slow day, but I did shoot this Wildebeest bull about an hour before dark. I tried for 20min to get a good lung shot and between him and the others in the group I just couldn't get the shot angle I wanted, so finally I just said "the hell with this" and shot him behind the ear. DRT with the 125gr TCC.

Just joined this forum because of this thread. I snagged an 8" barrel that was on clearance for a personal defense build.

Congrats on the Kudu, Bill!

I had 6 Bushpig come in to my feeding point at ABSOLUTELY last light and killed the biggest one of the group. Lehigh 125gr TCC, DRT

The other guys are also having a good hunt, but unfortunately none are hunting with the HAM'R. But most are using Lehigh bullets with good success. The Lehigh 175gr TXC out of a .30-06, 200gr TCC out of a .358 Win and 250gr TCC out of a 9.3x62 are killing game extremely well.

So far they have taken:

Cape Buff x 2
Wildebeest x 3
Sable x 1
Impala x 2
Kudu x 2

Sounds like your grinding it out and having to work for them a little bit, that makes it memorable.

Yes, hunting has been tough some of the time. During the scamdemic a lot of game was shot by the landowners and sold for meat just so they could survive since no hunters were here. Many of these hunting areas have still not fully recovered.

We've spent the last three mornings hunting for a big Impala ram with no success, but I got this big Baboon just before dark. 70yd shot with the 125gr TCC, DRT. This was my first "self portrait" with my PH, I'm pretty proud of how it tuned out with the moon in the background. That full moon and the crystal clear skies we've been having isn't really helping the hunting much either since game is feeding at night.

Heading out this morning to hopefully shoot a Buffalo with my .358 Win and a new 220gr Xtreme Penetrator.

I had a good day with an old Cape Buff cow and another Bushpig. I shot the Buff with my NULA .358 Win with a Lehigh 220gr Xtreme Penetrator and the Bushpig with a 125gr Tipped Xtreme Chaos. The Buff ran 25yds and was down and the Bushpig was DRT at absolutely last possible shooting light. The 220gr Xtreme Penetrator penetrated 25" in a tough Buff and almost exited the far side.

Amazing animal. What are the accommodations like? Eating anything good?

Keep at it Sir!
