A made in Sweden Goya G-20 with solid spruce top and solid maple back and sides (keep an eye out for these at yard sales, worth more than later Japanese Goyas) and a 1901 M/96 Swedish Mauser. The Swede is my most accurate rifle and has worked well on hogs.

On my western mule deer hunt I’m going to take the synthetic stocked Weatherby, but if I do find myself in a blind with a rifle, I’ll prolly take my newly acquired 7x57, pending the old K-6 weaver still holds a zero and I can find a load that will print acceptable groups.

I missed the 7x57 on the first read through, some pretty wood on that one, love the 7x57 despite never owning one.

Ive got a safe full of plastic and synthetic stocked rifles and shotguns.. but most of my hunting firearms are wood stocked..

My Rem 721 in 300 H&H will be what I take to Idaho this year for elk and deer (3rd from right).. my 416 Taylor will be escorting me on a buffalo hunt in South Africa in a few weeks (far right).. and a mauser I built in 30-06 will be my primary TX whitetail rifle this year (4th from right).. .

Most rifles I hunt with are wood.
These three are the current projects. Laminate but still wood. All were turned and partly inletted by Lawson in Tucson.
RWB are 270-308 and 375 Weatherby. Made as a set.
Purple and yellow is a 30 BR set up for hunting. It’s almost done.

OK. Here is real wood.
Pecan with mesquite ascents. Piece of mesquite at butt is to save stock if dropped.
Where I hunt there is a lot of Pecan trees. Mesquite was cut in front of one of the blinds.
Remington 700 single shot. 250-3000 Savage.

I was going to ask if anyone had some nice Texas timber as a stock, looks like you answered my question.

Now that is something that will add tremendous character to a rifle.

Now I make pretty rifles to hunt with.
