Aggy fans should probably be upset with their AD.

UT continuing to earn the right to be called Longwhorns. Hiring the Aggie coach in hopes he can take UT where A&M currently is has to be a blow to the ego of a lot of UT fans. Hell of a coach, why not. Good one, Smokey . Unless you've been under a rock the last 20 hours, it's a blow to the ego of all the ATM fans. They think they have better facilities, better fans, better recruiting, just as much money and this ultimate power move shows them where they are in the pecking order in Texas. Huge blow to their ego. So much this. If aggie RUNS THIS STATE..................................how they do it with a limited budget to BIG BROTHER? See this is why UT fans get the label of being delusional. Division 1 baseball team’s success is graded on win-loss record. They were soundly bested by the Aggies. The NCAA championship tournament is the other metric they are judged by. Texas eliminated in three games in the regional. A&M won the same regional. Then they won their super regional. Then they advanced to the championship in the MCWS. No redemption there. No math on earth puts UT in the big brother position in this discussion. We are back to, if you can’t beat them join them. Never thought I would see the day UT resorted to bringing in Aggies to catch up to A&M but here we are.

So Aggies beat UT this years a few games.UT gets embarrassed and buys Aggies Coach and players. It’s got more to do with the players than the coach I think. UT had a player that transferred from ATM this season, he didn’t do very well against his old team late in the season. Should be real interesting next season.

I don’t really care either way. It seems Texas certainly controlled the narrative, even while A&M was playing their biggest game. Then the sermon by the Aggie coach who left 10 hours after.
The “ugly” side of this was the dude not waiting a couple days. Get back, meet with players, partake in the celebratory events of the accomplishment. Press conference Thursday or Friday.
Makes me wonder about the Trev Alberts relationship.

Smokey is certainly uninformed, but he is entitled to his opinion. 1 or 2 successful seasons does not remotely compare to Texas' baseball program over time. A&M had like 2 CWS wins in its history prior to Schloss. They are not a blueblood. You can hate Texas as much as you want, but it's a destination job. The Longhorns are a baseball blueblood. No school has more College World Series appearances (38) and only USC and LSU have won more baseball national championships.

It's all about a huge pay raise and his relationship with Del Conte. Probably should have waited a couple of days as noted, but hey, it's a tough league out there. It's the world we all live in. Coaches do this kind of thing every year, bunches of them.

He probably doesn't like Alberts at all. Schloss said yesterday, "There wasn’t anybody at Texas A&M I couldn’t trust. I just know I can trust Chris” (insert trust jokes here). I read this in the Houston Chronicle: There also are internal factors at play at Texas A&M. When Trev Alberts became the Aggies athletic director in March, he fired 18 employees inside the department, including deputy athletic director Chris Park, who'd been an ally of the baseball program. Multiple insiders told the Houston Chronicle's Brent Zwerneman that Schlossnagle was unhappy with Park's dismissal.

I don't know why so many coaches continue to say they aren't going to leave and have no interest in any other jobs, but they keep doing it across all sports in both college and the pros.

It would have been a different welcome if the Aggies had won the national championship and he was their coach. I’m glad he’s gone also.

He probably said the same line of crap when asked if he was leaving TCU for ATM. Money talks, period.

I heard the same, and apparently he was also promised upgrades to the park that he wasn't getting. To be fair he was promised by the last AD.

I think CDC gets things done, and that's a good reputation to have when you are looking for a new coach.
CDC was the best thing to happen to Texas athletics. Texas has won the directors cup 3 out of 4 years. He is relentless.

But I’d bet money that this deal was done for a while. And both the coach and the AD weren’t truthful about any of it. Is that acceptable? The idea that “it happens”, makes it ok? But maybe it’s just a product of the nuclear bomb that’s been thrown into college athletics. A&M had 11 kids go into the portal today. There is no responsibilty, on anyones part. I’m an Aggie. I don’t really care that Schlossnagle left, was poached…whatever it was. They will hire another good coach. And they’ll grab other players through the portal. But at what cost? Kids getting no direction? Doing what they want without learning anything? College sports becoming almost unwatchable because, from year to year, you, as an alum, or fan, have no idea who is playing for your team? Seems akin to Pattons quote about “wonder weapons”…… My God, I don't see the wonder in them. Killing without heroics. Nothing is glorified? Nothing is reaffirmed?

I don’t know the right answer. Coaches leave and kids are able to enter the portal. Their value is at an all time high. There has to be a bigger financial penalty, other than the buyout for the coaches.
If Texas had to put a few million into A&M’s NIL collective, to be used for baseball, that may slow things down.
I read that paying players was hung up on things like tuition being taxable income. That would crush non football teams, especially at schools like Baylor, TCU, SMU.

Best friends talk, and a&m knew it was a possibility, that's why they had a Texas buy out in the contract. That being said I don't like bringing your team with you.... but this is they way of college athletics these days..

UT "check mated" A&M with this one, is what it is. Best payback will be "on the diamond", "gridiron", "soccer field", "basketball court" and any other sports venue that applies....

All this does is remind me of why I quit watching pro sports as a child, guess I’ll likely dip out on college to, with the players making money and the transfer bs it’s no different, bunch of poor excuses for humans I don’t need to invest in.
It's hell eatin em live
