Jb weld won't work on rust. This JB weld works on some things. Two part epoxy that looks like JBWeld once mixed is way stronger.
Pass the gravy.

That is pretty cool. The trip to JG (or any welder) may be faster than messing with JB weld anymore. And would look a lot better. Grinding the JB weld off beforehand would be helpful. Gluing ends together doesn't tend to work well with most material. As said, the contact area just isn't enough.

I have a little 110 welder here at the house for small duty items. I'd be happy to get that back together for you. If my little welder won't do it, I can take it to the ranch with me and get a better weld on it.
Frisco BTW

I have limited experience with it but the one time I used it, it worked great. I put a major crack in a mower transmission and it was leaking fluid like crazy. A new transmission half shell housing was back ordered for at least 180 days. I ended up removing the transmission housing and buffing it with course steel wool real good and applied the JB Weld. That mower is still going strong and zero leaks.
I have used JB Water Weld once also on a copper pipe that had a small hole in it. 10 years later and its still holding strong.

I have used JB Water Weld once also on a copper pipe that had a small hole in it. 10 years later and its still holding strong. That stuff was invented in Sulphur Springs. The story here in the 70's was that it would fix a cracked engine block. We had a parts store that had a piece of broom handle about 6-8 inches long sitting on the counter. It was supposedly cut in half in the middle and JB Welded back together. While waiting at the counter you could give it all you had to break it, which I guess never happened. I honestly think that broom handle wasn't cut, but just had a bead around the middle. I have used a lot of it down through the years and like the old saying, "It ain't what it used to be."

I repaired a crack in a Detroit 871 head once. It had a crack and was oozing oil constantly. We cleaned up the crack and ground it out a bit and JB welded it. I saw it ten years later and it was still holding.

JB Weld is okay on filling voids or cracks where there's not much structural strength needed. That needs a weld as you have already figured out.

Back in the 90’s I used to hunt in Sulphur Springs with a neighbor and we spent lots of time there. One time he was looking at some more property and we went to check it out with one of the local realtors. The realtor said when they first started selling JB Weld the guy and his wife would ride around in the pickup truck to different locations, while she sat in the front seat next to him packaging the product. At that time we were there the husband had died and she was running the company. She built that huge home on the north side of I30 about 5 miles east of SS and had a big sign saying “Villa Maria” on the entrance. The realtor said every so often she would walk in his office with the newspaper with an ad for land circled and would say “I want this one” and hand him a bag full of cash to pay for it. On another note, I’ve had pretty good luck with the standard JB Weld on thin cracks without a lot of tension/weight on it. The PlastiWeld works really good on plastic components.

I have several welders but, for small jobs, I often use 2 part epoxy.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.
