Just about to roll 25k on the ODO.

In the last 2500 miles the fuel economy has noticeably improved. Towed my boat to LBJ and back and got 14 mpg.

Went to Arkansas over the weekend and got 16.5 mpg avg overall (what my ford would have gotten), when i slowed down to 70-72 I would get high 18's.

Ive noticed fuel economy drops when I have a strong headwind or I get above 77 mph. at 80 mph its drinking the diesel even though the rpm's haven't changed much.

Everything else is running just fine.

My 2024 2500 HD ZR2 Diesel (almost same truck - just Chevy version) just rolled 15k. Mileage is improving. Our speed limits are lower up here so rare to be over 70mph. At 65 to 70 mph my last highway tank unloaded was 21.4 mpg. Combined unloaded i am getting about 17 mpg. Towing i am getting about 13 mpg towing a 12k open float equipment trailer. Towing an enclosed trailer for the atvs and ski-doos at about 2.5k weight i get the same 13 mpg. I believe the lousy milage on the light trailer is because it is wider and taller then the truck and being enclosed it is like pulling a parachute behind the truck. Was the same effect on my previous truck.

Under 2K RPM and the MPG will go way up ... on anything no matter the age or fuel type. My 2003 6.0L Yukon Denali gets 18 MPG at 63 MPH and 13 at 75 MPH.

Pass the gravy.

Did you keep the bigger tires?

The front end replacement and level plus 35's I saw my last two trucks drop about 1-2 mpg

Yes kept the bigger tires, on the lie o meter you are correct it’s showing 31mpg all highway and now 18 mpg highway/city combines. So about minus 1-2 mpg.

Just rolled 30k miles.

In the last 5k miles or so, fuel mileage has dramatically increased. I'm seeing 16-19mpg on the highway now instead of 13-14mpg.

You think it’s the rpm’s that change the mileage, or the increased wind resistance of traveling faster? My thoughts are wind resistance.

I just rolled 11,000 miles, my avg is 19.3, lots of 80mph driving.

Good to hear yours is finally improving

Nuts, 10 speed tranny must make a huge difference. Only time I ever get over 15 is driving back from mountains with a west tail wind. Life time average on my 15 is like 13.5

Yeah the 10 speed is great. Filled up in Vernon and headed east. This was the result of mostly 80mph driving

Just broke the 40k mile mark on the odometer.

Liking the truck a lot. Made a cross country trip with a Ford owner who drove 1/3rd of the time and he loved it. Said it’s a much more comfortable truck than the Ford on trips. Business partner agreed after a trip to San Angelo and back last week.

Truck is getting 16.5-18.5 mpg depending on a few factors. I’m happy with that.

All in all, I like the truck. Had a little bit of guilt switching brands but that’s wearing off quickly.

Nice. I am at 25k on the ZR2 and loving it. Taking the trailer and snowmobiles to the hunt camp tomorrow. 3 feet of snow in the last 3 days - when that happens during bow season i know exactly where they hunker down. Will be bow hunting by snowmobile.

I don’t drive as much as I was, about to turn 16,000 miles. Aside from the electronics issue, this truck has been great. Pulls great, averages around 19.3 mpg, and is an absolute animal off road.

Might have an oil leak though bang new spot showed up on the driveway, no guest are claiming it, and it’s where I normally park.

So smacked the ZR2 rear diff off a rock in the dark about a week ago. Checked it at the time and didn't see anything so carried on. Well next day the rear end locked up - oops! F'd the rear end. Dealer has been very good and is going to warranty everything except the parts that show direct evidence of external impact. Has put a crimp in my hunting plans though.

That’s rough. Did you smack it going forward or backwards? I backed a diff into a tree stump once, it locked up right there and we had to jack the truck up and take the diff cover off to get it moving. We managed to get it to the road for the tow truck, but it was a total loss of differential and axles.

Was going backwards same as you. Turning around in the dark on a construction site with 2 or 3 inches of snow on the ground.
