I have also been known to drop a few out on the way out to duck hunt. Especially Teal season, then pick them up on the way back in. I have never done it, but always had this wild idea of making up some combination duck decoy/juglines. Fish on would double as a motion decoys. cool

I have use the same for duck decoys for 30 years. I cut about a 2-3 inch wide strip, about a foot long, tie it to the decoy, when ready to pack up, wind it up and wrap the lead around to secure the string.

Using what I had available I ended up going with the small water bottles filled with concrete for weights. I filled with dry quikrete and a loop of hooked wire, then set them in a bucket of water a few hours. They came out to an average of 1 lb 5 oz. I can fit a dozen 3" wide noodles and 12 stacked water bottle weights snug in each milk crate. Now I just need to move over my old lines to the rebuilt noodles and make up some new lines for the new set.

My new ones with lights are a neat feature, but I will only use the lights when I am out with them.

Uncle Slayton does

Uncle Slaton's got his Texan pride
Back in the thickets with his Asian bride
He's got an airstream trailer and a Holstein cow
Still makes whiskey, 'cause he still knows how
He plays that Choctaw Bingo every Friday night
You know he had to leave Texas but he won't say why
He owns a quarter section up by Lake Eufaula
Caught a great big ol' Bluecat on a driftin' jugline

Crawdads set in a 5 gallon bucket for a couple days for bait on the hooks, 5 gallon bucket of wet, rotten milo poured over the line after baiting. Winning combo.

Absolutely and have for years especially when I’m crappie fishing, or pole fishing for cats on Lake Buchanan or Lake LBJ. I’ll put several out at different depths. It’s a bonus if I catch a cat and crappie in the same day. [Linked Image]

I went with Mark (roadgoeson20) several years ago on Lewisville. Seems like he had a similar setup with pool noodles. We caught shad and cut them up. Had good luck.

I know the catfish like that Stubby’s Cheese Bait! Threw out some range cubes the other day and we hammered them on Fork, but we were using poles. That stuff is like crack to them!

Can’t you just mark them with your license number and date? No name.

https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/...rules-regulations/legal-devices-for-fish

Gear tag
A tag constructed of material as durable as the device to which it is attached. The gear tag must be legible, contain the name and address, or customer number, of the person using the device, and the date the device was set out. Date is not required for saltwater trotlines or crabtraps fished under a commercial license. For juglines and freshwater trotlines, properly marked buoys or floats qualify as valid gear tags.

For non-commercial purposes, a jugline must be marked with a free-floating device of any color other than orange that is not less than 6 inches in length and 3 inches in width.

Yes Texas can be customer number only, but I was setting them up for Oklahoma as well. Apparently OK regs used to say customer number and address at one time so google AI tricked me up by answering the question from an old or incorrect page that gave the wrong info..
The below page incorrectly reads "and has: owner's name, address and customer ID attached".
https://www.wildlifedepartment.com/fishing/resources/learn-fish/videos/jugline-fishing-videos

But I did end up looking at the current OK regulations before I finished.
The OK regs actually say: "owner's name and address or customer ID attached"
https://www.wildlifedepartment.com/sites/default/files/2023-07/2023-24Regulations.pdf

I did remark the ones with my address with only my TX and OK customer ID numbers and finished the rest with only ID numbers.

So that is the explanation why I originally thought it had to have my address for Oklahoma.
