Sounds like the cop went power trip and jumped on Scotties car because he went the wrong way. Wasn't even going fast as soon as the cop "attached himself" top the car it was stopped in less than 10 yards. Probably took a second for scottie to even figure out what was going on.

This is stupid and will be dismissed. But it will cost Scottie some money and likely a PGA championship if he got rattled from it.

I was surprised it took this long for someone to post the story on THF.

Despite the surrounding circumstances regarding the pedestrian death, this was quite a reach by the cop(s) and I can't imagine these charges will stick.

Scheffler is about to tee off soon and already released a statement:

"This morning, I was proceeding as directed by police officers. It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do. I never intended to disregard any of the instructions. I'm hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today.

Of course, all of us involved in the tournament express our deepest sympathies to the family of the man that passed away in the earlier accident this morning. It truly puts everything in perspective"

Seen lots of good memes on X already. I agree with the above that the cop went a bit overboard. The vehicle Scottie was driving is clearly marked on both sides as a tournament vehicle. Officials, players, and media all get a special lane to proceed without delay and Scottie said he thought he was following the police directions.

Lots of complicating factors in this scenario. Early, dark, raining, and an accident investigation. Since the players do most prep at the course, it’s not unreasonable to believe that Scheffler was probably still a bit groggy and just trying to get to the course for workout, breakfast, and warm-up. I used to get up at 4:15 am and go to the gym to workout, shower, and get dressed for work where I had to arrive by 7 am to start my shift. And I can remember being somewhat foggy driving to the gym after just waking up.

It was a detective. Interesting.

Put Scottie in a supermax for a year. That will teach him and provide an example to others about respecting and obeying authority.

I will wait for some more information.
The only info I’ve heard is from his attorney or friend.

Seems most feel it’s an authority issue and not an entitled athlete.

Yawn story, he's so locked in on the course won't matter, in fact he's 2-under thru 9 holes today. More concerning is if Schaueffle backs his 9-under yesterday with a 4-6 under today....Scheffler was probably freaking out about being late and the cop a little emotional due to the deadly accident. Likely fault on both parties but no big deal....

One noteworthy detail in the police report not getting enough attention: "the arresting officer’s $80 pair of uniform pants was damaged beyond repair."

I saw he put out some statement. Saying how nice the cops treated him on the way to jail and at jail.

I suspect his lawyer reminded him about bodycams. And did he try to use the “do you know who I am”.

On the other side, cops can be the worst victims. Anyone has done these cases will attest to that.
There is a difference in resisting arrest and getting assaulted.

It could be a police officer overreacted, or it could be a case of entitled rich celebrity thinks he is above the law, I'll wait for the movie...

They already made the movies you watch, Dumb and Dumber, Dumber and Dumber 2. He’s playing in the PGA Championship. Just saying.

I never saw those movies, and don't see anything posted here that would change my mind...but you must have a point somewhere in your post, so bless your heart.

Sounds like there was a "Code Brown" in the pants.
