So, I live in East Texas. I'm looking for property in Oklahoma to retire on. I've looked at the hunting regulations for Ok and they say baiting with corn for deer is illegal. However, some of the pictures of properties in Ok show deer at a feeder. So can anyone that lives or hunts Ok clarify that for me? Thanks.

It's illegal to use corn on public land in OK. I don't think that pertains to private land. Call an OK game warden. They almost always answer their phones.

I’ve hunted there… you can put out corn on private property.

You can run feeders and throw all the corn you want.
Oklahoma does have a weird law, it's illegal to hunt turkey within 100 yards of a feeder.

If you are planning on moving there, you should probably just go ahead and read ALL the regulations and such.

If your over 65 and a disabled vet you can get a lifetime hunting & fishing license for a great price. Most important is you have to get your oklahoma drivers license first to apply then you have to wait 6 months from that date.

Be sure to tie down your feeders and deer blinds. Tornadoes will take them!!

Very interesting rule here….I’d never have guessed this was even something the needed a rule.

it’s a reintroduction law trying to limit means of take thus keeping opportunity open while decreasing success.

Same reason they use to only have a week long gun season and they increased after population data supported it.

I bet the population data would support another week added to the gun season but I get the impression they arent in a hurry to run those numbers. Somes thats kind of a big deal should try to light a fire under em....

I still remember when Oklahoma had mandatory “in person” harvest reporting. I supported it although a pain in the [censored], it was Concrete Harvest data with very low margin of error. They weighted and aged. Yes I think you are correct though, They have that late season doe that’s a good deal

The last hold out was Pronghorn, I remember talking with GW/GR and he said you know next year Archery Antelope success is about to sky rocket. In person checkin is gone, just record bio data in app. I was a little said and a little happy roflmao
