I've wanted to try that ever since I heard of it.
Turtle Hill north of Muenster has two descending par-3's. The mild one looks like that ^^^.
The bigger drop is nearly scary.
No golf up this way Saturday due to rain. Was supposed to play in the monthly men's league where this month's format is two-man shamble, random teams. It will get moved to next Saturday but I won't attend as it's the once a year trip to Tanglewood for the day before work fishing trip golf day. I'd rather play with work friends that only play once per year than donate $45 to the pot.
Anyone played Tanglewood lately? Last spring it was in CRAP shape (worse than Gainesville Municipal) and was about $65. It's $80 this year so I hope it's in way better shape.
Pass the gravy.

Played Turtle Hill several times many moons ago. Get this, a group of us would drive up from Dallas to play it for three reasons, one it was very inexpensive, two you could bring your own beer on and three it was a neat course until they put those FN Wind Turbines on the property right next to it Never had the urge to play it again after the Turbines went up. That signature par 3 was something else, kind of reminds me of the par 3 at the Cliffs Resort on PK.

That signature par 3 was something else, kind of reminds me of the par 3 at the Cliffs Resort on PK. The pseudo-natives have increased the price to try and keep it for themselves but it's not too bad. The worst problem with weekend rounds is the time. Descendants of original settlers like to play groups of 8-10 because it's like a party to them. I've had a five plus hour round there where we (twosome) were fourth group in line on #4 (the first of the drop off par 3's) tee box with a group on the green. And it's not "close" to Muenster, it's north. It's the same distance from Gainesville as it is to Lake Murray which is cheaper and in better shape. The windmills ruined more than just the golf course. Ruined property values and the views are destroyed from Lindsay west to Nocona from US82 north of the Red. You gotta buy the course beer at Murray but they'll sell you 6 for $12 I think. I play that one from the tips (6300) because they have most of the whites back with the blues most times anyway.
Pass the gravy.

Not near Houston but recently played Whispering Pines in Trinity, TX. Great course but NOT inexpensive...$$$$.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I'm fixing to mix things up with a full bag fitting next month. I currently have Wilson D9 forged.....not really the best clubs for my swing now. They are a players distance irons, and I want something more accurate so more of a traditional loft with a heavier shaft.
I did have a G425 LST 10.5 driver, but I cracked the head so they sent me the new G430 max 10.5.... my wife got to hitting it in a scramble, and hit it well, so we switched club heads and now I'm swinging her G425 max 10.5. It's a little spinny, but it will do till next month. I'm gonna try whatever they have but I did hit a G430 LST 9.0 head with 65gr XS ping tour chrome shaft the other day and had some good numbers, 1900-2200 backspin 120 ft apex, and 14-16 launch. I was carrying 280 rolling 300+ even my fades were over 300.
Ping Anser putter, but I'm looking at getting into a mallet because I struggle on slow greens.

Wedges are a Pitch & A Gap, looking for a 58-60° lob in either a Titleist Vokey or Callaway MacDaddy or Jaws type head in a 8 or 10 S, graphite shaft and regular flex. Golf balls right now are Titleist Pro V1.

I thought you were being serious because I know so little about golf products that I probably said something that warranted your response. We have our 50th high school reunion this fall with a golf outing, I mentioned to my wife that I would like to upgrade my sticks. Last set of sticks I bought new were King Cobras back in 1996. So for my birthday the wife and kids gave me $500 to get me started and yes I have gone past that amount. After a lot of looking on FB Market Place I was finally able to fill my bag which I also bought from there. Knowing very little and I mean very little about the golf club industry so far as make and models and all of the choices, I decided to do a little research. Came to the conclusion that at 68 years young I still wanted to stick with a regular flex shaft but go with graphite this time. Next choice was make and model, so after exhaustive research I decided on a big brand name except No Nike. I picked the Callaway Steelhead XR sticks because I liked the way the clubhead looked versus the others. Also went with the Callaway XR driver and fairway woods for no other reason than having all of the same type clubs. Already had the Odyssey putter. Before these last two rounds of golf I have not played hardly at all in a long time and it showed, had fun but it is time to get a lesson! My goal is to play once a week and score in the low 90's or upper 80's from the Blue. Use to shoot low 80's all of the time, but that was then and this is now!

Already had the Odyssey putter. Excellent choice. The Echo 2-stroke of the putter world. 93% of a Scottie at much lower price. White Hot OG 7-S with a Stroke Lab shaft and Super Stroke Flatso grip here.
Pass the gravy.

Put a good one for me down yesterday at the home track, Brookhaven CC, 1-over, 73. My best round in last year or so. Recent rains had everything saturated but also very green, grasswise.

Congrats heck of a round Was it cart path only and was your ball able to get decent roll or plug up because it is so soft? Playing Stevens Park on Wednesday.

Cart path only, very saturated not plugging but most drives "pitching" into fairways with virtually no roll.

Miserably wet here but still managed to find somewhere open Sunday. Golf was no good but conditions were bad enough the local wasn't open and the others that were shouldn't have been.
Playing Champion's Circle (for the first time) Thursday 11:48 AM, money game that night as usual.
Pass the gravy.

Very nice track, watched my son play a junior tournament out there, 5-6 years back, brutal conditions, temps in low 40s, north wind 20-30 mph, just brutal conditions. Think one kid in field broke 80 that day and many were into 90s including my little guy. Very nice, challenging layout, what are they getting cost wise $$$ to play it? Do you ever get out to Robson Ranch any?
