Between the wind and the rain, I didn’t have much luck at Pat Mayse last week. My son got a couple. But this Tuesday morning I hunted COE land and got into them. I had three on the ground in the space of about 10 minutes. I got one more a bit later, and could have kept shooting, but it was warming up and I wanted to get them cleaned and get to work.

I’ll probably go Saturday and then I imagine I’ll be done until the fall.

Here’s mine. Dr. Death

I also have a “benjermin” in the line up as well as a sweet .22 mag for them days I can’t get close. And of course a 12 gauge.

But Dr. Death is my Beeman R9 and she is first string in my line-up.

That is a very nice R9 you have there. What pellets are your preferred squirrel ammo?

Believe it or not, with that tin of Benjamin hollow points, this gun can shoot about 1/8” groups at 25 yards. So that’s my choice. I have heavier ammo that shoots better at 50 yards, but squirrel hunting is not a long range proposition.

I put some water on it to get the dust off and see what the grain will look like with an oil finish.

Looking forward to the finished stock. Now i am thinking about stripping and re-doing my 30-someodd year old Benjamin. I just put a Williams peep on her, and dialed her in with these heavy Korean dome pellets. They weigh 28 grains, no idea how slow they are going but they knock the crap out of stuff. Using 10 to 16 pumps for these mofos, i can reseal the gun down the road if need be. I have rebuilt a few.

This gun will dump a full 16 pumps. Most of them can’t, some won’t dump a full 8.

Surprisingly accurate with this pellet and that’s all that really matters.
