Took a chance last fall and planted Crimson Clover behind the house and it came up. ![banana2 banana2](/forum/images/graemlins/default/1959_dancing_bannana.gif) Pictures don't do it justice, looks better in person. Deer are eating it and looks pretty nice from the house. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/04/full-63244-418558-img_4176.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/04/full-63244-418559-img_4163.jpg)

So this thread isn't about Tommy James and the Shondells, I am guessing. Sorry. Old guy.

I just bought some small acreage in East Texas to hunt and have planted 100# of Crimson Clover about a month ago after I had some mulching done and it is coming up great. Timely rains and it sprouted up 3 days later. Hoping it will take good root and continue to come back each year. Planted it on a lease about 10 years ago and it came back every year.

I think you'd be planting at the wrong time of the year. I put mine in 2-3 weeks before the first frost (early November) this was per the planting instructions and it came up in the spring of this year.

I plant a mixture of clover, peas, vetch, oats, rye and turnips. Clover, peas and vetch take off late Feb/early March. The rest will carry until then. East Tx seed co in Tyler is a good resource.

Looks like my place in south central oklahoma. Crimson and arrow leaf clover do well. They dry up around June and I spread Wheat/Oat seed in mid September. Then mow them to cover the wheat/oat seeds. It also spreads the clover seeds. Turkeys and deer love it.
