A recently widowed friend of my wife's got talked into buying $20k worth of 10oz silver bars a few months ago when silver was priced around $26.00 an oz. Based on the lack luster history of silver I told the wife that was a terrible idea.

Boy do I have egg on my face now. Silver is more of a very longterm investment. Mine has done very well. Plus there is no taxes paid on they buy and sell.

You want to talk about dumb? Years ago I was in charge of precious metals for a global corporation. Silver, Platinum, Palladium, and gold. It was all for use in catalytic processes, so we’d have the catalyst made with our metals. When they finally became deactivated (lost their catalytic properties), we’d send it to be reclaimed - the metals - but there was some degree of loss and consumption. I’d have to buy or lease more Troy ounces of the specific metals to have enough for the next run of catalyst. You can imagine that, after years of this, the loss of the metals, particularly Silver, added up to a lot of Troy ounces. Management was not aware of the huge silver deficit until I brought it to their attention, and I suggested that we buy Silver at that time because it was historically cheap, at about $7 per TO. They agreed, so I bought it. But I, your local friendly DA, didn’t think to buy any for myself. I’m still mentally kicking myself.

Silver isn't gaining value, the dollar is simply losing value against itself and investors are looking to buy an asset that holds value. Add in the supply and demand factor now that buyers are looking for silver and the prices climb more than they otherwise would.
I still have bags of junk silver that I bought from Ruff Co with my paper route money in the 80s and have been buying silver since the first time that I had discretionary money in my hands to spend. My uncle got me into it by giving me a few silver dollars and then my hoarding nature kicked in. If memory serves me correctly I have silver that I paid less than $3 an ounce for.

I should sell but I just can't do it. I've never sold before. I've been buying for 20 years here and there. I'm sure I could sell now Makena good profit and rebuild more when the price drops again but I can't make myself do it, lol.

So, who could this stuff be sold to and how to price it.? As I said, I have a lot of rolls of silver dimes and quarters, all unsearched so obviously ungraded.
I still check my change but haven’t found anything interesting in a long time. Whitman folders and rolls aren’t doing anything for me.

You can look to see what the same items are selling for at online companies like Apmex and JM Bullion to get an idea of current retail value. Sell on forums like the THF at that price or a little less until it is a good enough deal that it is worth buyers to get it from you instead of directly from one of those companies. Or maybe even ask a little more if trying to sell unsearched stuff to a numismatic collector. And of course graded stuff should be compared to current graded stuff prices. Or you can sell to one of those companies at their buy price for a no hassle sell, but it will be below spot. When I buy silver coins and rounds from an individual, I personally will not buy at more than spot. But at the current price I am not stacking more silver right now and probably should sell mine too.

Because the guy in the commercials with blue glasses said it’s gonna be a big run.
He’s been saying it for 10 years though. Yeah, if my memory is right, he said gold would outperform stocks, and silver would outperform gold.

I know nothing about the jewelry business. However, the price of their product is increasing and it’s still just a rock that has been dug out of the ground, shaped, and shined. The value of our pay checks and savings is decreasing due to inflation. Biden, with the assistance of Congress, has ruptured the economy with his “stimulus” scams.
The money we have put away for the future and retirement hasn’t kept up with the cost of goods, groceries, and housing.
