I remember turning 18 in 1983, and I could buy cigarettes now. I remember thinking "hell yeah! I am a man." My buddies smoked and I was gonna be cool too.
I smoked about half a cigarette, I thought I was an idiot, and I threw the entire pack out the window. I have never had another cigarette.

Well yeah, tossing Busch light cans into the bed of your truck while cruising a back road jamming Molly Hatchet doesn’t look right in anything less

I don't know about the C&C, but on a cool night it's hard to beat a crush after a few drinks.
I smoked off and on for 25 years before I ever had a menthol. I don't know what took me so long.

Even worse is mix smoke with coffee on the breathe and it’s about enough to make you puke

In my 20s when even bar in town was cloaked in smoke I came to regard the taste of cigarettes and alcohol on a woman's breath to be a turn on. If I was tasting it I was getting some.

Well, if you’re just going by the taste are you sure it wasn’t a guy? peep

That was the price in 2003. 21 years later they're about $8.50 after tax.

Just thinking. For the first time in a long life, I neither know or care about the cost of cigarettes.

I recently found a half pack of Marlboros in a drawer in my shop. I did a military field strip and tossed them. Yes, the temptation was there.

Tobacco killed my grandmother. She had stopped smoking 20 years earlier and emphysema still got her. Smoking also killed my mother who had never smoked a day in her life. She was born early because of my grandmother's smoking and her lungs never fully developed. Complications caused by that is what killed her. My grandmother took up smoking because her doctor recommended it as a way to help with nausea early in her pregnancy with my mother.

Outside or using street drugs tobacco in any form is one of the most harmful things you can do to yourself.

Gold was about $370 an ounce in 03, now it’s $2340. Only the value of our money changed.

I'll never forget when I quit smoking, over 30 years ago. I was on like day 3 or 4, driving from Tx to Ms, really wanting a cig...Stop to get gas, go in side to pay. As I'm paying, look to my left, stack of cigs on the counter displayed, trying to take my eyes off I look to my right, another stack of cigs.... I look straight ahead over the clerk's head and there is Walt Garrison. I said give me one of those, never dipped before in my life, got outside, put a dip in, tht was like a shot in the arm, I was like a heroin addict that got a fix. I quite smoking cigs but dipped for another 15 years before I quit that.

Moral to the story, Dave, don't start dipping.

I have an aunt who lives in Canada. Recently widowed. She's broke AF and relies on my mom (her sister) and uncle (her brother) for all kinds of financial support including home and auto insurance, new tires, 8 months of back utility bills, groceries...you name it, they've paid it. Despite all of the handouts she takes, she still smokes like a chimney. More than a pack a day. Taxes on cigs are high in Canada, ~$14 per pack, which is over $10/pack in USD. So that's ~$4000 USD per year on cigarettes for a woman with no means to support herself. My mom is 5 years older than my aunt, but my aunt looks 10 years older than my mom. Her skin looks like a dry old prune. Sad deal.

sign of the times.....people love to capitalize on an opportunity to get offended.

I grew up with a family of smokers. I remember we would go out to eat with my parents and aunt and uncle and they would all be at the table smoking and eating at the same time.

I never did develop a habit of smoking, my sister did, but the smell of cigarette smoke gives me childhood flashbacks.

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that smoking isn't healthy for you, I never understood that even being a question. Even if a doctor says so. 90% of doctors look like chit anyway so I don't know why people take their advice in the first place.

I'm not offended per se, but I sure as Hell shouldn't be subjected to inhaling someone else's smoke. One person's disgusting vice shouldn't become a nuisance to others in the vicinity.

As long as they are following public and private property "no smoking area" rules, I'm ok with it, if I don't like it I move. Train station gets on my nerves, no smoking signs everywhere, doesn't stop some people.

When I was in France last month, nice restaurant, they seat us right between 2 smoking tables. I was tempted to ask to be moved, but smoking in restaurants is still normal there. I remember in the 70's on airplanes, "NON-smoking" section was in the back of the plane, like last 2 or 3 rows..

There was a lady in front of me at QT and she purchased 4 packs of Marlboro Lights. I was shocked to hear the clerk say the total was $48.00.

^^^^^This^^^^^I feel the same way about pot smokers, do it where I'm not included in your vice.

I was never a big ticket writer but the exception was folks who throw cigarettes out of their car windows. Besides the fire risk aspect of it, the whole world isn’t their ash tray.

If he smokes a pack per day and quits, that’s roughly $360.00 per month he’d save.

I love it when the dope heads and alcoholics trash talk the smokers, and no that doesn’t apply to all of you. As a smoker I also hate smokers. Right there with you.
