Depends on who you are talking about. I have a 16 year old that is more mature than most men and would be mature enough to posses an LTC.

And I know 40 year olds that are not mature.

Age is just a number

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

That was ruled unconstitutional. See my post above.

The state of Texas allows for open carry of handguns without a license, and concealed carry with a license. To obtain a license to carry a handgun in Texas, you must meet certain requirements, including being at least 18 years old (new rule since 01/2023), having no felony convictions, and completing a handgun proficiency course. Additionally, you must provide certain documents when applying for a license a valid form of identification and a completed application form.

My son just took the class and will get his CHL in 4-6 weeks.

His grandfather gave him a Glock, ammo, holsters, a gun safe for his apartment, and a gun safe for his car.

He is an engineering student at TAMU and a commercial pilot at 19. He is very level headed.

If he goes out of state, he needs to check the reciprocity laws for that state. Some don’t recognize a license issued to a person under 21.

I don’t remember which ones but the last time I had to memorize stuff like that I think it was about 15-20 states.

Not from a licensed gun dealer.

Is this because the decision was a district court ruling and not a SC ruling?

Federal law.

He should have it by now. Hopefully everything worked out.

I mentioned earlier, 19 days. All good.

He lives in an apartment that bans carrying in common areas in their lease.

He never uses those common areas, so not a deal. He is moving and the new complex does not.

How would they ever know he was carrying in a common area? I would just keep my personal business to myself and not worry about moving unless he is looking to move.

Only issue I could see if a police officer tries to be policy enforcement instead of Law Enforcement in case something ever went down.
