I know this may seem stupid but I have a question ..... Will wild hogs eat or go after cotton seed?

in my experience, no. They will eat, root, and crap around it, but not eat it.

It will appeal only to a ruminant such as a deer, cow etc.

Cotton Seed/Cotton Seed Meal is actually toxic to hogs (in large quantity), typically...they will not eat it.

I had a friend that would by cotton seed culls by the truckload to feed sheep and cows. One year he had a pen full of pigs he was fattening to sell. He decided to feed the cottonseed to them . Then they started dying. Cottonseed is toxic to hogs.

I've always heard cotton seed were toxic to pigs but....... I've also heard they have genetically altered cotton to allow cotton seed to be used as a food source. I've shot plenty of pigs in cotton fields. They're eating the cotton bulbs before they spay the fields and they pop open. The pigs will go right down the rows eating.

It isn't a problem for hogs if they don't ingest too much of it. It can be used as fill feed for a variety of livestock including hogs....but the levels must be kept low.
